AIBU?

To sell my Stone Roses tickets for this weekend and go out with DH for dinner instead?

DH and I have tickets for The Stone Roses this weekend. It looks like it's going to rain. I'd love to see them again (previous saw in 1995 twice) but I'd also love the money and a night out just me and DH. We have a babysitter arranged to look after our three kids but I honestly cannot remember the last time we went out for dinner just the two of us.

Would IBU if we put the tickets on eBay then went out for a lovely dinner and some peace instead? Or is that just plain boring!

What does your dh want to do? If you'd both prefer to sell and have a dinner together then its a no brainer :-)

I'd rather have dinner, they weren't that good the first time round.

I'll buy them! Glasgow green?

If that's what you'd prefer then do it. Personally i'd much rather be drunk in the rain singing full pelt to I Am The Resurrection with my DH. Can't you go out to dinner before the gig and get the best of both? Smile

No!

Go see them!

I'm seeing them this weekend too, probably in the pissing rain, up to my knees in mud, but I can't wait

I never got all the fuss about them.

I don't think you can put tickets on EBay anymore, you get directed to a ticket resale website and I don't think they will let you sell them this close to the date.

You can sell them on Gumtree. My colleague did this at the weekend and they sold in a couple of minutes for £150 for the pair. Am going too, woukdnt miss it despite the rain!

Are you asking if you'd be unreasonable to do the thing you'd prefer to do? I don't understand the problem, are you worried that you'd be in trouble for reselling the tickets?

You have to go!!! I saw them last weekend in finsbury park and it was joyous. I cried at I wanna be adored and 10 story love song, I can honestly say it was the best gig I've ever been too.
They didn't come on til 8.30, can't you eat early and still go?
You'll regret it if you don't Wink

Can't really do dinner out too cos the babysitter can't get here until 530 then we will just go straight to the gig. Part of me would love to go but I don't drink anyway so won't be getting pished but I'd be jumping about nonetheless :) dh is more reserved at gigs though and will probably want to just stand at the side and nod his head gently to the music. Though today he was doing his best Ian brown impression.

Argh I really don't know what to do! Think I might regret it if we didn't go but another part of me thinks what a nice time we could have going out for a monumental curry or something with money left over too!

YABU
I'd sell DH for Stone Roses tickets.

Dh says he's easy and it's my decision! I think the main thing bugging me is that it's a sign of getting old and boring that I'm thinking of a nice meal out instead of jumping to The Roses. Missmash was primal scream supporting?

And £150 is a LOT of money that we could really be doing with. Would I have to fess up to the babysitter if we didn't go ?!

YANBU to sell the tickets and do something you'd prefer but it's a definite sign of middle age, forgoing the Stone Roses for a nice quiet meal.......somewhere you can hear yourselves think.

A foot spa and a Stanna stairlift will be next on your list Wink

Do whatever it is you'd both prefer to do.

The reason I know about the EBay ticket thing is I was in a similar predicament last month. I was umming and ahhing about going to a concert and ended up not beng able to sell the tickets in time so ended up going- and completely loved it Grin

I have spoken to 3 (separate) people today who are selling their tickets for Saturday! Seems the rain is putting a lot of people off. It always rains, but I'm hoping it stays dry for Robbie Williams the following week Grin

Why would you have to tell the babysitter, they won't care, you could be attending a sex orgy or a bible group. All they'll be concerned with is getting paid for it.

There will be other nights out at restaurants, but this gig will be unique.

Personally I can take or leave the Roses, so I'd flog the tickets to someone else, but you obviously do rate them. I think when you wake up the next morning and hear the reviews then the odds are that you'd kick yourself for not going.

Although Ian Brown's voice is v patchy live.

Still.............maybe you can find a nice dinner dance to attend!

Go to the gig. Just go.

DH and i went to see Muse a few weeks ago and it was ace and reminded me what it was like to be young and carefree again jumping up and down in a throng of people.

There is plenty of time yet for quiet dinners. I don't know what age you are but we are late 40's early 50's and the gig was the best thing we have done in a long, long time.

Dh and I went on Saturday at Finsbury Park, we never go out together and had a fantastic day, couple of drinks and a good laugh. Hearing the whole crowd belting out each done was phenomenal!
Plus you lucky things get Primal Scream and Jake Bugg.

I saw them last Saturday at Finsbury Park. It was bloody brilliant. Best night I've had in ages. We went to an after party and got home at 6am. Fun but I'm still recovering. Grin
