This is my 2nd pregnancy (approx 8 weeks) and for the last few days (usually at night but on and off all day today) I've been getting really sharp shooting pains in my vagina/cervix. It feels like I'm being stabbed and that everything is going to fall out! Blush sorry for TMI!

I didn't have this with #1 and I'm worried, but I know that nothing can really be done in early pregnancy and that you're advised only to ring if you bleed - which I havn't done since implantation bleed 4 weeks ago.

So is this normal and I'm just being a wuss? Or is it something to worry about?

Any advice/experience of this would be great thanks.

I'm not one to ring the Dr etc on a whim and don't want to be a time waster if this is normal?

I'd ring your maternity triage if you have one. Speak to someone on the phone and if they think it is something to be concerned about they'll tell you to go in and get checked.

Thanks for the push (scuse the pun) LimeLeaffLizard - although I expected to be told IABU and that it's normal ... I'm guessing it's not?

Yes everything was peachy, they were bad around 7 weeks, but by 2nd trimester the pains pretty much went. My lovely baby son is upstairs sleeping. It felt like I was being kicked in the cervix, I guess. Not constant pain. Apparently it is common.

If the pain is on one side and intense though it can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy so if you are at all worried just call them for a chat anyway and they can hopefully assure you or refer you.

I had pains sounding like what you've described with both of my (successful) pregnancies.
Did you ring yet?

Right thru my pregnancy I had that. It's horrid; they just said it was stretching/pressure pain but ring for your piece of mind xx
