To think its irresponsible

For Cbeebies to encourage puddle-jumping?

Are they going to take on the responsibility (for all the parents whose kids can no longer walk past puddles without hurling themselves in to them) of purchasing waterproof footwear for children and washing puddle-splattered clothing? No? Then stop with all the propaganda about puddle-jumping being the next best thing since sliced bread.

AIBU?

The sooner they turn peppa into a bacon sarnie the better imo.

Far more welcoming on a Saturday morning. Grin

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 11/05/2013 07:06

YANBU

Have they not seen the dangers of puddles as illustrated by the vicar of dibley?

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 11/05/2013 07:08

YABU.

Puddles are there for jumping in.

Avoid being splashee by becoming the splasher. Grin

Sirzy · 11/05/2013 07:11

I don't think children need any encouragement to jump in puddles!

Tournament · 11/05/2013 07:12

Puddle jumping should be compulsory. There is no better childish pleasure. When mine were small we used to go out on focused puddle hunts Smile

thistlelicker · 11/05/2013 07:14

Kids can hardly do anything in today society! Allow them puddle jumping! U r being v v v unreasonable

KitNCaboodle · 11/05/2013 07:29

I have a few mental Kodak moments, where I wish I had a camera but my memory will have to do. The biggest one is taking my 2 chn, then probably aged 2 and 3, out onto our quiet road in the rain, to jump in puddles. We got soaked but absolutely loved it.

macreturnofthe · 11/05/2013 07:45

childhood is the state that ends the moment a puddle is first viewed as an obstacle instead of an opportunity

  • best quote ever - and proves i am still a kid!!!
Happiestinwellybobs · 11/05/2013 07:48

Love that macreturn. Me too :)

MadCap · 11/05/2013 07:53

YABVU you are probably one of those annoying parents who complain when their precious darlings come out of school/preschool with a spec of mud or paint on them.

VickyRenovator · 11/05/2013 07:55

Yubu, if you can't jump puddles as a child when can you?

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 11/05/2013 07:55

Aw it's free fun. Let them enjoy it. That's what primark is there for. For £2 leggings and t shirts that can get wet and ruined without costing u a fortune. :)

Great quote btw :)

SkinnybitchWannabe · 11/05/2013 07:59

Clothes can be dried, memories cant be lost so YABU.

pictish · 11/05/2013 07:59

YABVU I too encourage the jumping in of puddles. Wellies were invented for such a pastime, and all should indulge.

Tee2072 · 11/05/2013 08:05

I have maintained for many years that we would have world peace if the leaders took a puddle jumping break during meetings.

glenthebattleostrich · 11/05/2013 08:06

I bought wellies just so I can go puddle jumping with the kids, it's brilliant and great exercise too Grin

I love that quote too by the way

MrsBungle · 11/05/2013 08:09

Yabu. There's nothing better than care-free puddle jumping as a kid. I love macreturns quote.

peacefuloptimist · 11/05/2013 08:15

Bah humbug!

You have all been indoctrinated too. Puddle jumping? That's something you would get in trouble for when I was younger not celebrated like an Olympic sport.

Sirzy · 11/05/2013 08:20

Your parents were obviously as miserable as you then. That shows that puddle jumping = happiness!

We were always encouraged to jump in puddles except when wearing 'best' clothes

peacefuloptimist · 11/05/2013 08:21

Let's see how fun you find it when your child comes home from school with mud splattered socks/trousers and their sensible school shoes completely waterlogged and ruined. And Madcap if I had school aged dcs I would mist definitely be that mum. sniff

OP posts:
pictish · 11/05/2013 08:22

Your mum sounds fun. Wink

I have a sort of pal who is a bit like that - the kids aren't allowed to get dirty...must be pristine at all times. Deffo no puddles.

I have "whoever makes the biggest splash wins" competitions. Grin

Takes all sorts.

pictish · 11/05/2013 08:23

We all have that OP. We put the trousers in the washing machine and the shoes on the radiator.
All remains well. Wink

of course yabu puddles are for jumping in, like pictish said that's what washing machine and radiators are for.

Tee2072 · 11/05/2013 08:27

Do you live in some weird world, OP, where the clothes can't be washed and the shoes won't dry?

You would have probably had a heart attack the day my son came out of preschool with his jumper covered in green paint. His teacher assured me he was even wearing a smock...
