issey6cats Tue 30-Apr-13 22:24:56

i agree with you she has a fab voice

valiumredhead Tue 30-Apr-13 22:26:35

She's had her day imo, she sounds dated now. So there wink

Ihavetopushthepramalot Tue 30-Apr-13 22:27:13

Ha ha I completely read the title wrong! grin
Good for you. I haven't heard any of her stuff for ages.

MimsyBorogroves Tue 30-Apr-13 22:27:30

She's a bit whiny, but I like her too.

Totally read it as "dildo" though.

squoosh Tue 30-Apr-13 22:27:49

Oh God, tell me there isn't a comeback in the offing! She's the aural equivalent of Night Nurse.

<pushes Dido back in the cupboard called 2002>

You filthy minded husseys.

I was thinking she was sounding a bit more folky which was good. Rather than that charty shite.

Iaintdunnuffink Tue 30-Apr-13 22:28:44

Vampire Weekend are cute smile

AtYourCervix Tue 30-Apr-13 22:29:45

And i am very old and staid these days.

She runs all her words together and is difficult to understand. When she was singing 'and I want to thank you' it sounded like 'die want to thank you'. Which made no sense at all and confused me no end.

RhondaJean Tue 30-Apr-13 22:30:35

I erm misread the thread too...

AtYourCervix Tue 30-Apr-13 22:30:38

That red cowboy suit is shockingly horrid.

squoosh Tue 30-Apr-13 22:33:37

I wish she had gone down with that ship she was always mumbling about.

reelingintheyears Wed 01-May-13 00:17:18

I like her too.

DionFortune Wed 01-May-13 00:39:23

I had a Norah Jones moment the other day..

ThatVikRinA22 Wed 01-May-13 00:42:51

norah jones with jack white is rather good.

i misread the title here however. i have tired eyes.

Someone started a thread about FCUK t-shirts the other day and now one on Dido. I am begining to think I have fallen through the space-time continum and landed in 2001.

God her music is so bland and calculated to be inoffensive that having an opinion on it is like having an opinon on air or sliced bread.

The song that changed my life was Cybelle's Reverie by Stereolab. It was so perfect that I thought I'd wished it into existence, it made every piece of music I'd heard up to that date sound second rate and I still get slightly giddy when I hear it. I can't imagine anyone hearing a Dido song and thinking 'fuck me that is what music is all about' or 'hearing that track changed my life.'

The lyrics seems calculated to say nothing to no one. It is almost as if her entire output was designed by a committee at Haeart FM to be almost to be barely detectable to the naked ear and fill the gaps between the adverts.

I am assuming that the person saying she has a fab voice hasnt seen her live.

She has a weak, reedy voice. She was one of several acts that was playing when I saw her, and she absolutely stood out as the weak singer. My friend who had been raving about seeing her nearly cried she was so disappointed.

SkinnybitchWannabe Wed 01-May-13 07:18:58

I love Dido, especially 'white flag' because it was playing on the radio in theatre when I was having a c-section and the line, 'Im in love and always will be' came on the exact time my ds was born. smile

edwardsmum11 Wed 01-May-13 07:19:37

Misread it too... but love her song with eninem.

Pobblewhohasnotoes Wed 01-May-13 07:20:53

She is boring.

And her latest song sounds like a rip off of Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry.

SmellsLikeWeenSpirits Wed 01-May-13 07:24:59

Never has anyone been so much a victim if their own success

sue52 Wed 01-May-13 07:34:06

Her output is a bit student bedsit angsty. She's not for me.

Sparklingbrook Wed 01-May-13 07:46:08

I like Dido too and Ellie Goulding currently.
