My mum lives in a terraced house and upstairs in Dsis's bedroom and the bathroom always reeks of next door's cannabis plants. Mum thinks they are growing in the loft space. Sometimes the smell comes in the kitchen downstairs too. This morning I could smell them outside on the street. It is really getting her down and she wants to report them to the police but is worried about causing ill feeling with the neighbours as they are a bit skanky. WWYD?

If I were seriously worried about repercussions I would probably call Crime Stoppers anonymously. But I would try really hard to find out if it was being grown in enormous quantities, I wouldn't report if they were just growing and smoking their own.

I would report to the police anonymously ASAP.

I would report it like a shot.

It's tax evasion innit!

If it's a terraced house then I'd report them - a house down my parents' road that was being used as a cannabis factory burnt down because of the way it was wired up to grow all the plants. Rights and wrongs of the issue aside, there's no way I'd share walls with a house being used like this!

Report!

My aunts next door neighbours house was a factory! She discovered it when the left side of her house got damp & the wallpaper peeled off her wall. She had to have a new kitchen and her walls dried out.

Report, but don't expect anything to actually happen (bitter experience)

Do you actually expect the people in the house to open a letter addressed to "the occupier/cannabis grower"?

Crimestoppers. Report anonymously.

Dsis says she is getting annoyed with her clothes smelling of weed and people at her school (6th form) thinking she is a stoner!

"Report, but don't expect anything to actually happen"

It is a big problem in my area. The police are issuing scratch and sniff cards with the smell of cannabis plants because they want to catch cannabis farmers. If anyone reported a cannabis farm to our local police they would be round there like a shot.

Report it . If they're growing it in any kind of quantity then it could be a possible fire hazard as it usually involves using heavy duty arc lighting and foil to up the temperature so it grows faster . Some times they use other people's electricity supply , or wire direct into the mains , which is an obvious huge fire hazard .

Safer neighbourhoods love this kind of thing . And they won't mention who reported it at all .

Have you had a scout around after dark, there may still be bright lighting visible, even through roof slates or round doors.

Report if you can, an ex friend had a factory going in a terraced house in the middle of a row, he had somehow wired the electrics up so that the neighbours got hit by a a bill for thousands of pounds! Thatwas how he was caught. The fucker had tried to scam 2 elderly couples by using their electricity.. Get your DM to check her bill carefully.
