AIBU?

AIBU to feel upset about not getting cuddles from DDs...

I realise this sounds really childish, but I feel slightly upset about my DDs (aged 4 and 2.5) giving me the cold shoulder this morning as I left for work. They refused cuddles and kisses, and clung to grandma instead who is visiting.

Do your children do this?

It makes me reflect on all my parenting failures: not playing with them enough, being distracted by other things when at home, shouting etc etc.

I also feel a bit jealous of my mother getting all their attention and cuddles when she is around. Now, I love my girls and am obviously happy for all the love and attention they get from other people and wouldn't want it any other way, but...I feel somewhat pettily resentful about them "preferring" my mother who in some ways was not so brilliant when I was a child, and is now a granny who can do no wrong.

Of course I don't let the children see if I'm upset, but...

Sorry for boring essay!

YANBU to be upset but don't take it as a slight on your parenting. They see you as permanent, safe, someone they can cuddle whenever. Granny is novel, that's all. When they are hurt or poorly it'll be mum they want, guaranteed.

YANBU to feel like this but I dont get a look in when my mum or grandma is on the scene either. I put it down to the fact that she,s probably a bit of a novelty and will play all their games for hours. She does give the best cuddles as well but he always wants me for the rest of the daily stuff . Dont take it personally.

I felt this when our nanny arrived this morn. Dd1 is clearly in my mind cross as I am back at work after Easter break. Know I'm being silly tho'.

Yanbu to feel that way but it is only as she is a novelty.

Hi

My ds1 was liken this when I worked and dh was at home. He always went to dh for cuddles and to be comforted when upset - would still prefer dh to me most of the time. Guess its how many working dads feel when kids at home with mum.
