First I would like to say if you hate peircings regardless of age/gender etc please do not just say " no I hate them" or words to that effect as I am looking for unbiased opinions.
Ok, So I am 29 and have blue hair, usually red or some other 'interesting colour' I dress fairly conventional unless I am going out in an evening and then it is mostly 50's or Rockabilly.
In my teenage years I had both my lip and nose peirced and have now come to miss them!
Would I look really silly to get one or the other redone? If not which one?
My family seem to not like the idea and I would quite like to gather some other opinions.

Oh apologies for shit spelling and grammer as I am on my phone and it has no spell check blush

Go for it....

I'm 29 and have blue hair as well, and I'd love my nose and lip done but have never had the money and the bottle at the same time grin

Go for it, I love piercings. How about something a bit different, like a septum? Will it be okay with your job?

It's your face so up to you. Sounds like it would suit your style.

Would work be an issue?

Monstermashpotato Tue 05-Mar-13 18:46:06

Go for it.

It is your face, your choice. Start off with small jewellery first if you dont feel very confident

DangerousMouse Tue 05-Mar-13 18:46:15

Oh, just don't get a snakebite, they really are for teens only, in my opinion!

makingdoo Tue 05-Mar-13 18:46:30

X-post danger

bulletwithbutterflywings Tue 05-Mar-13 18:46:56

Do it! Do both smile
I have taken out a lot of my piercings for various reasons, but I can't imagine ever taking my lip piercing out.

If you've got luscious lips, get a medusa....I love those. They look really beautiful on the right person.

coughingbean Tue 05-Mar-13 18:47:38

Work is fine.
I work in a library, may give the readers a scare!

bulletwithbutterflywings Tue 05-Mar-13 18:47:58

Dangerous what is a snakebite? I thought that was a double piercing on the tongue.

ScarletLady02 Tue 05-Mar-13 18:49:03

It's bottom lip, either side of centre

Get which one you like best...or both!

I suppose the nose piercing is more common, and needn't be immediately obvious (depending on what you put in it) whereas a lip peircing would only really leave you the option of a spacer if you ever wanted to be more subtle.

I had snakebites for about 2 years until I was 29 (had to take them out for CS and didn't put them back in because of tiny grabby hands) and I miss them sad

coughingbean Tue 05-Mar-13 18:49:22

Scarlett- its not too painfull as its over and done with in a matter of seconds

DangerousMouse Tue 05-Mar-13 18:49:54

Snakebite is double lip piercing, one each side at the bottom, IMHO it it quite an emo/goth look and a single lip piercing is more 'grown up', but that is just what I think!

HildaOgden Tue 05-Mar-13 18:49:59

Get them re-done,you can let them close up again if you decide that it's not really 'you' any more.

I love the sound of your look, blue hair and rock-a-billy,seriously I think you sound fab!!Go for it!

GirlOutNumbered Tue 05-Mar-13 18:50:38

I miss my nose stud. I'm not a fan of lip piercingly myself but they can look good on right person. Go with what you feel!

bulletwithbutterflywings Tue 05-Mar-13 18:50:39

Hmm. Not just for teenagers then!

ScarletLady02 Tue 05-Mar-13 18:51:02

WEll, if you don't want a bias, presumably you can have 50% of posters pointing out that there are negatives. risk of sceptacaemia, scarring...

I think they make people look aggressive. I was on a course with younger people and a lot of them had piercings. Seems to be what a tattoo was twenty odd years ago.

I tried to get into some interesting discussion about piercings with the people on my course. None of them could articulate why they did want a piercing. I know they weren't under any obligation to make me understand, but it was interesting to me that none of them could.

If you want one, get one though, I'm not trying to talk you out of it.

coughingbean Tue 05-Mar-13 18:53:13

Hilda - you make a good point, also thank you blush

DangerousMouse Tue 05-Mar-13 18:53:16

No not just for teenagers, that's just my opinion. What's great about body mod is everyone can be individual and do whatever they want, I'm sure lots of people have opinions about my piercings and thats fine grin

HecateWhoopass Tue 05-Mar-13 18:54:11

I'm not quite sure what you mean by unbiased opinions. Are you only wanting opinions from people who like piercings? You don't want to hear any views other than 'I like them because...'? Cos people who like them have a bias too you know. grin or do you only want to hear from people who are neutral on the issue? ie not having a bias for or against. aka having no opinion/not giving a shit.

Or are you not looking for any opinions on piercing faces generally and the consequences of doing so and the perception of the general public, but just on whether you personally should get your face pierced? If that's the case, I am unbiased - My opinion on whether you get your face pieced is I don't give a shit. grin And that's not me being nasty. I am in no way attempting to have a go at you, or dismiss you. It is just honesty. It's simply that it doesn't affect me one little bit if you have a million piercings in your face so I don't care what you do.

Your family, otoh, probably care a lot.

If you were asking about views on the issue of face piercing - that would be different.

But you aren't, are you? And you specifically don't want opinions from people who don't like it? Have I understood that correctly?
