I work at an after school club for the last three months, the woman that runs it is a very nice woman but I do kind of get the impression that she favours some child over others.

Two little girls (Rosie and Isabelle) were playing with barbie dolls today and Isabelle took Rosie's doll and Rosie chased her, it wasn't done in a malicious bullying way, more in a sibling teasing way.

Anyway the woman that runs it proceeded to yell at the Isabelle so loudly that everyone went quiet saying that if she continued she would tell her parents and she would no longer be allowed at after school club and she would end up having no friends too.

I understand children need to learn lessons and sometimes need to be shouted at, but it upset me as she was only playing and didn't need to be told that she would no longer have friends.

Aww that's sad. Poor Isabelle. I think it's inevitable that people will favor certain children or a child over others.
It is very unprofessional to make that overt.

That is cruel to tell a child. Though IME after school programmers tend to get stressed out dealing with school-agers' shenanigans. Maybe an off day?

But she won't have friends if she continues doing stuff like that will she & as she is school aged she should know better than to snatch something off another child & run away with it.

I don't think there is ever a need to yell loudly like that in front of everyone unless a child is in imminent danger. I have worked with children for 12 years and never shout like that, neither do my colleagues. I find it very difficult to be around people who talk to kids in that way, difficult to address if she is your boss though, a tricky situation.

I'd complain about her. I'd also ask for this thread to be deleted because you used their names.
