So im 37+ 2 with DC2 and being delivered fri, its fair to see any rationality I possessed has peaked and petered.

I had chosen a cosatto giggle in treet for this baby, ordered it through a member of inlaws family through john lewis, as she gets 25% off very happy! It was delayed by a week or so, arrived at MIL saturday, DP collected last night.

Got it home and like an excited child set about opening it... It is beautiful, well made and for £225 all in, well, its bloody marvellous!

BUT as i was setting it up I noticed that on the pram part (the part i will be using first) the liner apron that zips on has a black mark. Really noticeable... As does the hood Sad. The hood we have gotten around as they include two (one for pushchair seat one for pram) so there is no urgency with that, but my beautious pram is a bit spoiled, as this mark is right where your eye goes IYSWIM. I could pop it into the wash but wont do that until ive called them.

Their customer service opens at 9, and I'm hoping they can post me a replacement.. Does that sound likely?

Any who AIBU to feel like a child on christmas morning whose main present is broken?
I realise how pathetic this sounds but ive waited ages for this buggy...

It's faulty, take it back. You won't be needing it on Friday!

Good luck on Friday.

If you ring customer services you are going to drop the family member right in it. JL has v strict rules about staff discount & other than a spouse/partner, staff discount should only be used for dependents, not all family members. The family member will have to sort it out. Your only hope us that JL replace it without wanting the receipt or details of where/when purchased which seems unlikely.

But surely John lewis can't dictate whether this family member buys a present using their discount? Do staff members have to prove usage of everything they buy ? I don't understand

Yes surely they can buy things using their discount for whoever they like?

Get on the phone to customer services and tell them it's faulty. Or ask your relative to as I'm assuming they'll have proof of purchase.

Didn't the family member buy it you as a gift? Xmas Wink

Yes why don't you phone her and see if she wants to do it in case there's any query about the discount. If she's happy for you to phone up, and take the risk, then you can do that. It's quite a big discount though so I can see why they might be fussy about who gets to use it.

Get the order confirmation, EMAIL it to John Lewis (i find email cs far better than phoning them). Explain the problem and ask them when they can collect the faulty item and redeliver a new one.

I've done this a couple of times with faulty items from JL in the past, and its always been swapped within a couple of days.

Do mention that you are due on Friday and need it sorted by then. I'll PM you a similar email that I sent them if you like?

Agg just saw about the discount - all of the above, but get family member to sort it.

JL actively tell their staff discount holders to use it for friends and family... She checked before ordering and it was ordered as a gift so no worries there at all. She is retired worked for waitrose not JL and is the type to check.

I have no interest in returning the whole travel system there is a 4-6 wait for them as they are made to order, so whilst I may not need it friday i will certainly need it before they could send a replacement of the whole system. There is nothing wrong with it the fabric has just been marked, its one tiny part that needs swapping quickly, the hood isn't a huge deal, hence a spare being more appropriate.

JL ordered direct so the issue wont go through them anyway if they an help it as cosatto will have to send the part. The only paper work I have is the ordering paperwork but this has an order number so if cosatto cant help I will Of course insist JL deal with it.

Its just rather annoying!
