So perhaps they are ill or something? I can't lift anything (at all. Nothing. No muscle due to a disability) so I can't move binbags. My OH does it for me, but I don't know what I'd do if he didn't.

Actually, scratch that. Someone managed to get it outside, so they could have got it to the bin. It is scummy. Especially if it smells/there is bin juice.

Caja - should just say I don't believe they're actually ill ... they're pretty young, possibly students. And yes, they did manage to get it out of the kitchen and out of their flat ...

Are they at home ? Maybe they have gone away, thought Oh I will take the rubbish out on the way, then locked the door and forgot all about it.........either that or they are dirty buggers.

Or take it a step further: tell them you're really worried about them, you thought something must be very wrong - otherwise why would anyone leave rubbish around for 5 days?

Just move it to directly outside of their door so they trip over it when they walk out of their flat. That should remind them.

Yep, passive aggressive is the way to go here: "Oh I was so concerned that something was wrong, why else would you have left a bag of your rubbish out here for five days?" etc etc.

i once took the students rubbish out of my bin, as I needed the space for my rubbish, put it on their doorstep and knocked on their door before walking off. I did call back down the stairs that they should put their rubbish in their own bin. lazy buggers werer putting whole pizza boxes and unsquashed cartons in the bin instead of walking 100 yards acoss the road (10 feet if they are going to uni) to the recycling, or even squashing their rubbish so it would fit.

seveal rersidents had complained and I just snapped! funnily enough, they did not do it again

I'm 22 - and a student - but I don't have a communal hallway so it isn't me :P

I also couldn't get the binbag out of the bin, let alone the kitchen and outside - but if I did, and someone offered to take it for me, it'd make my day. Honestly. It's nice to not feel like an incapable fool that everyone is judging and presuming to be lazy.
