AIBU?

To wonder why Steve Tyler is on Jonathan Ross

When he was famous for his 'relationship' with a 14 year old girl who he got pregnant and convinced to have an abortion?

Erm, wait, what?!

AIBU to think this is a bit dodgy? Steve Tyler is slime in human form. And its good to know the BBC are taking the investigation seriously after Jimmy Savile...

Have I missed something ? This is Steve Tyler from Aerosmith right ? Not being snippy, just watching something else and wasn't aware of any rumours around him.

Was there 2 girls then? I am sure DH read a book about Aerosmith and that it said Tyler ahd got a 16 year old pregnant and she'd had an abortion

I'm an Aerosmith fan and don't recall being aware of that fact either. Mind you, how old was he at the time it happened? Because there would be a bit of a difference WRT if he was, say, 18/19 or he was 30 or older.

Not sure why Walliams got away with Mauling Edd last week on there.

I read that she was 14, and he got her parents to sign her over to him, and that he was 27.

Bradley Cooper commented that 'Mike Tyson was a great guy'. That'll be the convicted rapist Mike Tyson. Aye, fab line up tonight.

this article here is by the girl in question she states that she was 16.

He was in his 20s I think.

Those 2 were utter freaks, I had to change channels. I never watch Woss and now I remember why.

Saltire, sad story, but the language was too pro-life for me to fully empathise Sad in that article

oldmumsy, watching it now on + 1 but what bit in particular made you think they were freaks ? Again, no snippiness intended, just used to watching aged rock stars!

Banana, I said the exact same thing to DH after hearing the Tyson is a great guy line.

Depressing isn't it?

YABU, and havent even got your facts correct.. I have been an Aerosmith fan for years, and that certainly isnt something that he is famous for either.

I stand corrected, she says she was 16. He just pressured her to have an abortion at 5 months pregnant and snorted coke off the bedside table while she had it done.

Obviously a stand up guy, sorry for the confusion.

Jonathan Ross is on ITV now, not BBC

Eurgh even before I read this, ST was my Last Man On Earth Choice.

He makes my skin crawl.
I can't like Joam Rivers because I look at her and see his image (I'm sure they were seperated at birth)

Tyler doesn't come out of the story terribly well, but it's pushing the limits a bit to imply that he's a paedophile and a rapist when it's clear from Julia Holcomb's own story that she was 16, consented to sex and had a longterm relationship with him.

I agree to the poster who said it was too pro life, the article i linked to, I was a bit Hmm reading it, but I came across it as I was googling, due to OP saying the girl was 14, I was sure I has read somewhere that she was 16.
he is slmiy looking though

Inadeeptrance: do you think he's slime because he behaved selfishly in pressurising his partner to terminate her pregnancy? Or are you still trying to label him a child abuser?

Not quite in the same league as Savile is it? Unless Aerosmith also visited hopsitals with the sole intention of touching up sick kids

This is an old story that is also in the Aerosmith bio. He had a younger girlfriend whose parents were happy with their underage daughter living with a rather unstable addict musician and she wasn't innocent on the drugs either. I have loved Aerosmith for years and think that all were culpable but he's not an abuser.

Gosh he was a messed up man, but he wasn't a paedophile or a rapist and he is certainly not famous for the story to which you are referring.

Talk about picking out the 'facts' you want for the sake of a thread!

You can fully condemn him for what he did, but at least get it right and don't exaggerate.

solidgoldbrass · 23/10/2012 20:41

SO, basically a selfish drug addict who had sex with a younger woman (who at the time was also a drug user and whose parents were neglectful and druggies themselves) and persuaded her to have an abortion. Not all that admirable butnowhere near the likes of Savile. At no point, even in her own account of events, does she suggest that he raped her.
