Arghhhhhhhh I'm so pissed off with certian people in my every day life that constantly have to out do everyone all the time.

Their DC have to have everything everyone else has got plus more and are all materialistic and smug.

And if you are reading this and you know who I am in RL ... Yes I mean you, and you're sodding pony and scout woggles and Wii games and new bedroom furniture.
I don't give a shiny shit what you've got but PLEASE educate your children that it is extremely nasty that they can chant "I've got x and y and YOU haven't"

Oh and letting your DC wear bridesmaids dresses to your friends wedding and letting your kids pose in all the photos as bridesmaids - conpletely disregarding the actual child that was a bridesmaid was TERRIBLE and your friend was too bloody shocked too nice to confront you on it on HER wedding day.

I remember a child a bit like this "I've got X" "Daddy bought me y" etc etc.

In the end I asked her "when is he buying you some manners?"

But I'm a bit of a cow.

Console yourself with the thought that they are probably very insecure people. The sad thing is that they are setting up their children to be the same.

Concentrate on what you do have. I have explained to dd (6) that she has far less toys than all of her friends because we prioritise differently. She understands and I think is growing up to be quite a compassionate person.

YANBU!!! I hate children like this!

My DD (4) puts up with alot of this, off friends and family.

She knows she doesnt have many toys because the toys she doesnt play with anymore go to other unfortunate children and she knows that some things are too expensive for mummy to be able to buy.

Nevertheless, my daughter appreciates everything she owns and everything she gets given (she gets given hand-me-down clothes and toys, but loves each and every single one of her items)

Only time she gets new toys is christmas or birthday and she knows this - although I will occasionally buy her a book or a new toy which is affordable if she has been very good :)

YANBU but you have to feel sorry for them! They have zero self confidence and have to try to build themselves up at every opportunity!!

There used to be a mum like this at preschool, until her parents offered to pay for private schooling, as she hadn't had it but her sister had. She was gone like a shot.

I used to play brand name bingo in my head. She couldn't open her mouth without mentioning a brand name. She had all the labels, well the affordable ones. She even posted on fb 'parents day! Best Boden dresses ladies!' or some such shit. I don't mind a bit of Boden but even I know it's been done to death.

I like people like this. They make me feel smug about myself.

whilst hoping I am not like this

I know someone like this too, she is so much better than everyone else to the extent that she cannot lower herself to make conversation.

It's a shame because her life is built on debt and lies - I nearly feel sorry for her, but she is usually rude enough to diminish any sympathy I have for her!
