to think teenage shrieking is a new thing?

Some 'young people' are having a party - as anticipated the girls/young women have started shrieking like they're in a horror film.

Can some of my peers (I'm 40) tell me whether we were like that at that age? I don't remember shrieking myself. I think I was too busy chuffing away on a fag or snogging.

I'm a bit older than you (48) but I'm pretty sure we didn't do the shrieking. They also do it when they are reunited with a BFF they haven't seen for half an hour. Can't stand it myself. [old fart emoticon]. I blame reality TV.

We did shrieking I'm 27 so between a teenager and 40.

My mum used to say I would regret the shrieking when I was murdered and all tge neighbors ignored it because they were so used to hearing me shriek.

It's new. As are big shows of affection between girls in public....mwah mwah BABE!!!

Irritates me but I am getting old.

I'm in my late mid twenties and we didn't bloody shriek. Some people might have done though, and I guess they were always the 'visible' ones. Perhaps the same through the generations?

I'm 34. We were shrieky people.
We did the hugs and kisses too. Always linked arms when walking.

If someone tried to hug me now I'd punch them.
I'm all touched out from three small children all day.

Woolytights, LOL at "mwah mwah BABE!!!" and don't forget that if you post a picture of yourself looking sultry on FB, all your friends have to "like" it and add comments like "lukin gud babe" and "u so sexxxy" and "wish i hd yr hair, wel jel".

We only did shrieking when friends arrived at the party.

Friend you haven't seen for half an hour arrived at party. You put out your arms, shriek and rush over to hug them. Perfectly possible in DMs.

I'm 43. We shrieked.

But I'm an American. Maybe it's an American thing...something else to blame us for.

I'm 26 and we did the shrieky thing. So much that if I tell my 5 and 3 year old DS's to shhh my mum reminds me of the shrieking.

Yes, many things have changed, but I don't think shrieking it a new invention. They do it in Grease!
