Why are you asking? For that YABU!

Why would it BU??

YABU if they are BOY children, because then obviously they will catch a fit of the gays from wearing GIRLS clothes.

(I put my boys in leggings a lot, very comfy and practical, have lost count of the number of Hmm faces that they get though)

When I were a youngster, all the little boys in my school wore tights in the winter, underneath their shorts.

I put dd2 in leggings and socks on PE day because she finds tights tricky still. Black leggings look a lot like navy tights, especially when TAs are faced with the other option of helping 15 girls with their navy tights!

Grumpla - my boys have leggings, too. They look fab Smile.

Leggings plus socks under a skirt is quite a good idea for PE day, or any day really as they have to be more comfy and easy to put on than tights.

I think dd2 would rather be in leggings (but not trousers) every day. In fact maybe I should suggest it to her and run the risk of detection by uniform police. Leggings last much longer than tights too!

So schools don't like girls in leggings under their uniforms?
Dd lives in leggings and dresses all winter. Tights are a pain, now I don't need to help her to the bathroom we have phared them out as she can't get them up properly.
Leggings are brilliant and warm.

Phased not phared them out.

If it is without anything over the leggings to keep them warm then yes YABU. The weather is too cold now for leggings alone.

I guess it depends on how old the child is. From school age onwards I think it is up to the child to say how cold they are. Some children might be cold without thick trousers, others are still running around with short socks. The only time I put my foot down is when it is raining heavily and then they must wear waterproof coats/ trousers or not moan if their tights/leggings are wet. Anyone looking for them, Asda usually has some black leggings which I use for dd2, with dark blue socks (so if she takes her shoes off the socks don't loook so dirty! :) )

it sounds like you're using the leggings as tights, so no, YANBU.

How hard is it? If you are out on bonfire night and have tights/leggings and jeans and 4 pairs of socks and a snowsuit and a balaclava, then leggings and a jumper would be a bit unreasonable for your DC, yes.

How can it be unreasonable to dress your child appropriately for the weather?

Personally I would still put a layer over the leggings like a moderate thickness pair of jeans.

My DD is one and at this time of the year she wears a bodysuit (babygro thingy), a long or short sleeve top, hoody or cardigan, a hat if she has no adequate hood and jeans or trousers with leggings or tights underneath, depending on how thick the trousers are. If I don't put any tights or leggings underneath then she wears thick knee high socks. I always double layer her socks or put a pair over tights as she isn't wearing shoe's yet, but still always wrap her bottom half in a blanket whether in her pushchair or carrier.

She is learning to walk now so the top layers won't change but thick warm shoe's will mean I don't need to double layer her socks.

I just think it is too cold for leggings alone right now but I can't stand even a little cold. Plus I don't have older children and maybe this makes a difference.

That they did Stratters

So what's wrong with leggings then? Confused they don't strike me as particularly cold. Dd has them on for dog walking and doesn't appear to be a Popsicle yet.
