AIBU?

AIBU to allow my 7 year old to watch this anti Romney parody over and over again?

This is my first foray into AIBU but I will brave it! I think this rather hilarious parody from Frontal Freedom

m.youtube.com/watch?v=pSAGR0arBUo

encourages DS 7 to think about politics and issues and has led to many questions about American elections/democracy and the importance of people standing up for what they believe in. It is also catchy and he finds the guys cool-Colby Melvin, who is the singer is also a rather lovely guy who in addition to being a model and dancer, has written various articles in support of gay rights/anti bullying etc.

in the interests of full disclosure a couple of the models have done some full frontal nudity work etc-needless to say I have not showed these pictures to DS, although he knows that some of the guys are gay, and has seen photos of Colby kissing his boyfriend.

Church friend says that I am influencing him unfairly because he thinks the guys are cool and the video is not suitable- I think the slightly risqué bits go over his head, and that I have tried to be impartial but as I can think of nothing positive to say about Romney I have to tell him my opinions. And I think the video is awesome!

Should also add that we are not American-British Army living in Germany!

Not sure I will change my opinion but am interested to hear your views!

I can't watch the video on my phone so can't comment the age appropriateness of the video but wouldn't have any problems with a child seeing two men kissing in a video (or on the street for that matter). Children need to learn that that is how some peoPle live and it's not shameful.

I also think that if your son has shown an interest in politics then it's great and it is g

Yes, he does all that. And likes to listen to music...and talk endlessly...and ask questions! He watches the news with us sometimes. Should 7 year olds not know about current events?

Will clarify that over and over means maybe 40 views in the last 6 weeks.

Good to encourage that in an age appropriate way and in a way that will engage him. If he is finding the video funny and it's harmless then let him keep watching it. If you are putting on repeat and telling him he has to watch it then that wouldn't be right!

(sorry for the early post).

Thanks for that Greenplastictrees! You should watch the video when you can! I think it's great-unless you are a republican supporter who doesn't like swim wear clad men!

Worryingly, I read the OP as Romany and thought you were traveller-bashing! As it's the Republicans I'd say go for it Wink

That's bookmarked to show my poor unfortunate 8 year old when he gets in from school. Thank you!

great clip, what a bunch of fit guys, I see no reason why anyone should have a problem with it, unless they are the problem.

Fecklessdizzy I was in fits at this tweet from Zachary Quinto after he heard about Romney' comments about not knowing why you can't open windows on an airplane

@ZacharyQuinto: ?@GenyDeee: I'll GLADLY pay for an airplane to be built for @mittromney where he can roll down the windows at 37,000 feet ;)" KICKSTARTER?!

Thanks for commenting everyone!
