AIBU?

AIBU to think this seller is 'at it'?

Okay I ordered some stuff from a FB seller for my daughter starting school

She asked me to make a BACS transfer, which I did 2 weeks ago in my local branch.

She's saying she never got it.

I've checked my statements online and the transfer was made.

I checked with her what her account details were and those are the details that I gave to the bank.

I can't drive a.t.m and neither can DH (both ill at the same time!) so can't go to the bank to question it.

The products arrived (despite her 'not getting the money') and came with a receipt saying 'payment received with thanks' Hmm

but she says thats her 'standard receipt' that she gives everyone.

Why send the products if she hadn't gotten the money? Why send that receipt if she hadn't gotten the money?

I'm now thinking she's 'at it', and trying to get more money.

AIBU?

What do I say to her because she's hassling me about it.

I should add she's just had her second baby, which caused a delay in delivery and may have made her a bit mixed up...I'm trying to be fair, but DH is saying she's at it and I'm starting to wonder myself.

She says she's checked her bank and the money is NOT there.

You've got proof you paid the money into her account, and you've got the goods.

I'd just ignore her.

She's trying it on by the sounds of it. Can you get a screen shot of online banking that confirms the transfer and details if you can't get to the bank?

Can't you ring the bank and confirm with them for sure. Then just send her a message saying that you have checked your bank statement and your bank have confirmed that the transaction was received by her on such and such a date. Take a screen shot of the transaction coming out of your bank and ask her to provide a screenshot to proove it didn't go in on the date. Why should n't she provide proof that it didn't go in?

Or ring your bank and see if they can reverse it and next time pay with paypal.

I mean send her the stuff back and get the bank to reverse the payment even the suggestion of this might make the money appear in her bank.

If all else fails call her on it and say you think she is trying to get more money out of you.

yes I can take a screenshot. DH has just done this.

He is drafting a reply to her pointing out all the above and basically telling her to f*ck off.

Do I leave a bad review for her on her FB page? to warn other sellers? She's a friend of a friend though...

YABabitU. If the bank has screwed up there is nothing she can do about it on her own. Call your bank and ask them how they can verify the money that went out of your account went into hers. There must be a transaction number or something she can check with her bank.

If a bacs transfer is sent as a 'faster payment' it cannot be reversed. However, you can ask your bank to put a trace on it which will prove where it went.

In addition, I would ask the seller to send you a copy of her bank statement for that period to prove it hasn't credited.

Thanks for that uggmum, it's useful to know these things.

DH says I shouldn't have to do anything, it should be her checking with her bank etc as I've done all I could.

forgot to say, last week when I asked if she'd gotten my payment, she said 'not yet but don't worry about it' Hmm I said I'd check with the bank anyway, but then the products arrived and I went 'oh she got the money then'.

Now she's hassling me for the money.

I've sent DH's reply to her pointing out all the above and saying I wont pay her again and she's to deal with it herself via her own bank etc.

Banks do make mistakes, but why on earth would she send a receipt for something she hadn't recieved?

The worst that can happen here is that she can take you to court through the small claims track to reclaim the money.

Firstly, I think she would be very unlikely to do this anyway, and secondly, what do you think the Judge would make of the fact that you can demonstrate that the money has left your account, she has sent you the goods and you have a receipt confirming that you have paid?

If you get any comeback from your friend, just reiterate the above. Difficult situation for you though, I hope you manage to get it sorted out without too much bad feeling.

Send her a screenshot of the transaction made, ask her to confirm if you used the right bank details, and ask her if she can provide counter-proof that she HASN'T received the money e.g. a shot of her own bank account around the date your transfer would have gone in.
