Whilst my husband is on leave?

He has never bought a property before (I have), but this is going to be our 'forever home' so he needs to have a say and when he goes back to work he is going to go away for a good 6 weeks, up to 3 months. Then he will be home for Christmas and then go away again mid year time for a good 7-8 months with little to no contact with the family. I want us to be in our own home before that happens so that the children are finally settled.

I have spoken to him, and he does agree with me but he seems to forget how long it takes to buy 5 seconds after I tell him.

You can start the groundwork .
I'm assuming you'll do a "Must Have" "Wish List" and "Would Be Nice" so you can start narrowing the choices down according to your budget.

Sounds like you are going to be in the house most (with the DC0.

Let him know when you are down to a shortlist nd take it from there.
Good Luck! Wink

Maybe that is what I should do. I am probably going to sound like I am drip feeding now, please be assured that was not my intention, but my husband knows the area we are looking in far better than I do because his family live near there, whereas mine live over 3 hours drive away. Maybe I should get him to short list areas and go from there.

Get him to give you a couple of definite NOs i.e No house that hasn't got off road parking, or not next door to shops, then you have carte blanche for the rest. If he's not gong to be there, he's going to have to trust you.

Write down a wish list of ten things between you (downstairs loo, lawn, 3 beds), and aim to get seven out of ten.
