On a different note...

Does anyone actually say hurrah?

I've only ever seen it typed...I don't think I've ever heard anyone say it.

If I did, I'd expect it to be followed up with 'And lashings of ginger beer'

But I digress.....

Does anyone say "Huzzah" though? I love the idea of that.......

Depends what the views are.

e.g. gays transmit AIDS, even by sharing the same air space as you = ignorant and probably based on fear and misunderstanding.

I can't think of an opposite view to the above but you get what I mean.

I say hurrah. But then I also say lawks a mercy so I'm hardly representative.

OP, you would not be unreasonable had this ever happened.

Huzzah is not unknown in this house, sometimes in association with hurrah...you all think I live with Bertie Wooster now don't you Blush

Ohhhhh

When I'm happy, I just say "Yessss get innn!!"

And then proceed to run around with my top over my head until I bash into furniture.

I say huzzah.

I always say it after downing a shot of vodka or similar, then turn the glass upside down on the table.

boglach · 09/03/2012 15:57

Jolly good

I am being unreasonable, to expect humanity to change on a Friday

booze it is then

Proud are you laughing at my affected quaint linguistic manner or my astute observation of the human condition? Wink

Report
Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 16:04

Lawks a mercy - genius. Still laughing and getting very strange looks

I also say 'Oh Christopher Biggins' instead of 'Oh Christ' and 'Goodness Gracious great balls of fire' instead of 'Good Good'

Actually in all seriousness I did once see Theresa May on Question Time say (almost) this in relation to gay adoption. My respect for her soared and I thought 'hurrah'. Then my deeply cynical wise ndn pointed out it was almost certainly calculated to make her appear more human and I didn't feel huzzah-y at all Sad
