To expect DH to hang out his swimmimng stuff

On the same day he goes swimming? I've nagged him every day for the past 6 days and it's still festering in a bag in the living room. I've just shouted at him about it and his response was "you're making me feel very unloved". Now he's stomped off to sort it out. Can't work out if I'm expected to do it for him or if I'm supposed to not mind it sitting there...

My DH often leaves stuff lying around - damp bath towels, dirty clothes etc. I've realised after all these years he's never going to change so I just pick up after him . I don't think you are BU at all but rather than let it smell out your lounge I'd be inclined to sort it myself.

YANBU, my swimming bag goes into the bathroom to dry out, the towel is hung up, cossie hanging out to dry and mesh kit bag in the shower cubicle. I swim a lot though.

You are good. My own swimming bag (swim twice weekly) sometimes hangs around for 48 hours. DS's (9mo!) is still there from his lesson this morning. I will empty it tomorrow when I do the miscellaneous (as opposed to bathroom) towels wash. When can I expect him to start doing it himself?

BTW I do have a batch of deliberately-bought-to-be-ill-treated supermarket towels we take swimming. So perhaps it isn't quite as bad [hopes].

I used to train more than 7 times a week, it kinda gets drilled into you ;)

I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't my favourite towel and if he hadn't left it in the living room so I'm looking right at it when I'm trying to relax. I always hang my swimming stuff out (or put it in the laundry basket) before I go to bed that day

I can't decide. While I wouldn't pick up after dh, his not doing something to do with his own stuff wouldn't bother me.

In fact, we had a panic the other night trying to find dd's spare swimsuit as her usual one was still in the bag from her previous lesson a whole week earlier. Dh takes her to her lessons. Was fine, we found the spare.

All competitive swimwear I have owned since the age of 6 have said hand rinse only. It's not the machine per se, it's the detergents. One of mine states to avoid shampooing whilst wearing... Er no, I'm not taking it off in communal showers after a training session!

1. wash nice bath towel
   
2. hide nice bath towel in a place only you can find it
   
3. assign scratchy old towel to DH for future swim use
   
4. put his festering trunks and bag in his wardrobe. Or car. Or work bag.
   

YANBU. If he is the only one swimming, he is responsible for washing it. (I wash swim kit in our house, but it's either mine, or the children's or all of ours).

Maybe I should start a new thread in good housekeeping but anyway. Couldn't find dh's swimming stuff after he stomped off last night so didn't know what he'd done with it. Just decided to do some laundry to discover he's hidden/buried it half way down the laundry hamper. It reeks and is covered in a bright red sticky furry mould or fungus which is now also on my clothes because of him burying it. Never seen anything like it before. Shall I just stick the whole lot in the machine and cross my fingers?

Shown it to dh who says it's my fault cause I had a go at him last night!! Given the stinky mouldy stuff to him to sort out/throw away

Apparently the whole thing was some kind of test/trap laid by me to catch him out and make him feel guilty!!

Alicehurled no he's not normally - usually does his fair share eg gets up early for baby regularly so I can have a lie in and brings me a cuppa. Let's me have remote control (very important). Empties bins/dishwasher etc etc. He's crap at laundry though

Similar problems here. Damp towels and running kit festooned around bedroom. I wld definitely hide your nice towels, insist he only uses a scratchy one and just find the most out of the way peg (bathroom door/porch/shed) for him to store his kit. It's not ok to leave manky stuff like this in shared living spaces like kitchen/living room...and as for his side of the bed?? Are you mad? Presumably op and her DH share a bedroom!

We have swim towels and house towels too. Not sure what red mould is though, hope it comes out your clothes
