Depends how accurate he was expecting you to be. Half of £1.78 is 89p, so if you were just saying 'about 90p' then he was BU.

On the other hand, if he was expecting you to be accurate, on past evidence, he was probably being unreasonable anyway....

Mind you Tesco once did an offer which meant that the second bottle of £9.99 wine was 1p. That was nice.
