I am moving on Friday and on Monday my solicitors got in touch to say that our buyer was not happy with some work that had been done in our next doors front garden.
Back story is: The couple who we bought our house from 12 years ago re-vamped their front garden but didn't go right up to their boundary, therefore our next door neighbour always looked as if they had a bigger front garden than us. We weren't particularly bothered so when we re-vamped the front garden again, putting a path in, we kept the smaller garden as going up to our boundary would have meant chopping part of their garden up.
We do not get on with our neighbours anymore as we were initially planning on building an extension, they didn't want it building but got nasty about it.
About 2 months ago they came around to let us know that they were redoing their path and should they go up to the boundary or keep the extra bit of our garden. I said that we weren't bothered although the new buyers might be so it was up to them. They then had the work done and went just slightly over their boundary, put a small piece in to keep the path in place on our land and then left a big hole of mud. Bearing in mind that the grass part of their garden is still on our land too.
Our buyers don't like the big hole but don't seem to mind the fact that they have some of our garden. I think they would have preferred them to just carry on the path right up to where it was before. They have asked us to fill in the hole. My dad came round to do this today but had to chip out the small piece of path to do it (this part was on our land).
I rang DH to tell him that all was sorted and he is now worried that I didn't go around to speak to the neighbours before doing it.
Bearing in mind that this piece was on our land and the fact that the reason we are moving in the first place is because of them, AIBU or is DH being silly.
