To want faster treatment at the EPU

i have name changed for this as people in RL may recognise me from the details
I am wondering if I should accept the treatment timetable I have been given at the early pregnancy unit or should be more forceful in saying enough is enough
A bit of background
7 weeks ago discovered baby had died when I was 9 weeks, but they could only be 99% certain so had another scan 10 days later
Just over 5 weeks ago I was booked in for a ERCP (D & C) to be carried out ten days later
Had the op 3 weeks ago yesterday
Still bleeding 2 weeks after op so had another scan done and they found products remaining, that was last week
Have had antibiotics since but still in pain and spotting and also finding it tough emotionally knowing it's not over
Today I was told the consultant wants to see me, not a junior doctor, but the first appointment is next week, over 8 weeks since the first scan.
If they decide to do anything else is could go well over 9 weeks.

Sorry, long story, but do you think I would be right in asking them to hurry up or am I BU and should just wait my turn?

Asking them to hurry up would be perfectly in order. The worst they can do is say no.

Can you go into your GP and see if s/he can write or phone to see if it can be done any sooner? That's what I would do, your Gp will be able to see how much this is upsetting you.

I'm so sorry for your loss & the awful time afterwards. I think if you speak to the consultants secretary directly & explain, you may be seen a little quicker but I have found with nhs you do sometimes just have to sit it out. If you have an infection from the leftover tissue, they should act very quickly. If you have temp/vomiting then demand to see someone the same day.
Will cross my fingers that you get seen asap.

Generally clinicians will only do a clinic once or twice a week - so they may very well have given you the first appointment. The rest of the time they are operating, seeing ward patients, teaching if a teaching hospital etc. HOWEVER - they can usually find a window for very urgent issues so well worth a phone call in any case. You need to speak to the consultant's secretary and I would recommend crying. Not becuase we are mean and nasty otherwise (I work in the NHS) but from the secretaries pov - if you can write on a message to the consultant 'Mrs X is very distressed' it has more weight than 'Mrs X would like an earlier appointment'

GP understanding but can't do much other than give me a letter should I accept my mil's kind offer of going private, but not sure I'd take that route

Too tired to do anything else :(

Phoned PALS at the hospital after it was suggested to me, awaiting reply. Also waiting to hear back from private hospital

Guess I'm being told to wait!

Amazingly I got an appointment on friday lunch time with the consultant who was lovely, but told me I could either wait and see (after 8 weeks I think I've waited!) or have another op

First available op date was a week later, meaning 9 weeks since I discovered baby had died, so pushed for an earlier slot and was put on emergency list. Was wheeled to theatre at 1am on Sunday morning!

Already feel better now than I did 2 weeks after first op, which is wonderful

Just wondering how many times one has to phone to get someone to understand things are not right.
5 calls and 3 more visits to EPU
2 calls to GP
4 calls to private clinic
1 call to Patient Advice and Liasion Service

Thankfully NHS came to the rescue in the end
