AIBU to think the doctors should be more organised

Took my little ones to the doc today one to see my DD for ongoing problems and one to discuss my DS allergies.

The doctor wants to do a blood test for my DS (3) to find out what he is allergic too. She told me to go to the receptionist to book for a blood test. That's so off I pop queued the the receptionist said you need to go to the treatment room. I asked her of she was sure as he was a child and not sure if they take children's blood there. She reassured us that they do.

Off to the treatment room I went waited another 10 minutes to get to the receptionist to be told they don't take children's blood. I had to get the doctors receptionist to call the hospital. So off I went back to the receptionist (with a fed up 3 year old and a screaming 20 month old).

Waited again for another 10 mins. The receptionist then said she has never herd that the treatment room would not take blood from a child. She seemed annoyed that she had to call the hospital. She then came back and said the hospital have never herd of this. She told me she would keep trying and call me when he has some information. She also kept my DS blood form.

So after 40 mins of messing about I came home. She called me a hour later and said she got me a appointment for tomorrow at the hospital but I needed to go back to my GP and pick up the blood form.

AIBU to think they should be more organised and know what they are doing. Surely other children have blood tests.

Yes they should know. Most surgeries only do blood tests on adults because often 2 nurses are required for a child. Some will d a BT on a child who is used to it.

YANBU and I hope both your DC's are feeling better soon.

I'm not annoyed that he has to go to the hospital for it I'm annoyed that no one in that place seemed to know whAt to do. It was like I was asking something out of the ordinary. Angry
