She wants to (has wanted to for a long time) babysit DD and take her out around town and 'pretend that she is her baby'. Her words, not mine.

She also wants to babysit her, but has made no attempt to let DD get familiar with her, they live in the next town (15 mins away) but she never comes over, my DD barely knows her and would get upset being left with someone she doesn't know. If I say this, she gets stroppy and says I'm being unfair. She's a very immature 21

Can you buy her a doll for Christmas?

Tell her to grow up and/or fuck off.

oh dear. Please tell me you're not seriously considering her request?

Well, you don't need to worry about her - at that age it's more likely to be immaturity/baby as accessory than some deep baby-snatching impulse.

But you do have to keep saying no!

BB, please explain to your SIL that your DD is not a toy or some sort of accessory. I would definitely be worried about her behaviour based on what she said - 'pretend that she is her baby'.

Is she your DB's Wife or your DH's Sister? If she is DH's Sister, could you talk to MIL about this?

Failing that, maybe a 'Well, DD clearly doesn't want to pretend you're her DM...'

Oh dear God no, Filly I am not even remotely considering her request! This is why she gets stroppy with me. She is DH's sister. He agrees with me but MIL doesn't really get it, she thinks its harmless. The really worrying thing is that SIL works in a nursery Hmm

Its like she thinks she has a god given right to be 'Aunty' whilst putting zero effort in. I like that comeback Wii!

Maybe ask DH to have a quiet word? Sounds to me she wants to play 'Mummy' rather than be 'Aunty'
