AIBU?

To think that its better to light a candle than complain about the darkness?

Basically I work in what I think is a fab job in care. The hours are long and not always socialable. The pay is not great but reasonable. The people we look after are great fun and there are lots of other benefits but people moan a lot. I mean a lot, I felt like a bit of a rebel today for daring to smile and be happy. When my colleagues moan, one of them in particular seems to think that we all want to listen to him and agree with him. Fortunately I have learnt to see him coming and/or phase him out as I can't be doing with it all day. AIBU to think that if these people hate their job so much they should just leave and find another job rather than moaning all the time. I should also say that some of these people refuse to do particular tasks that aren't to their liking meaning that others have to do them.

I know that this thread is a little moany from me but I don't moan infront of service users as I don't think that its fair on them. I also have 'lit a candle' in effect as I have reported my concerns about individuals attitudes and I do try and inject fun and happiness into the workplace Grin

YANBU.

I don't especially like my job, but it is so demoralising to be constantly listening to colleagues whining and whinging about how awful it is. It's even worse when you work in an office and they sit next to you Angry

And Grin @ Ormirian

Hmm, if they're working in the care industry it's a bit worrying as people that don't like their jobs enough to constantly moan probably won't carry them out properly. What sort of care?

I know I'm going to regret this and awaits a flaming, but this is how I feel about strike action. If your not happy with your working conditions/pay rise/pension scheme etc find another place to work.

Love title of your thread.....silly example but I now disassociate from every one who moans about my kids school...sort it or move (am overseas so we are at private school so don't qualify for a govt school)

My life is so much nicer without loads of negative energy (god I sound like a hippy Grin, but moaners drain the life out of you_. YANBU.

I hate those who complain about the darkness. In fact, those I know who do seem to embrace the opportunity to complain about the darkness.

I have tried many a time to give some people a candle, some get a geat flaming beacon and are insistant on blowing it out and going back to complaining.

Hmmm....one glass of Wine too many?

I think you're right Likeacandle some people seem to really enjoy moaning and would probably be desperately miserable if there was nothing to moan about anymore Smile
