AIBU?

in thinking that DH spending time with DS could involve a million things other than...

... going to fucking Burger King?

We are married, living as family etc etc etc. Every now and then (maybe every third weekend) DH takes DS aged nearly 7 out, and they go to BK.

I KNOW I am not being unreasonable, but now do I steer him into doing something else with him without it turning into a goddawful row? Just kicking the ball about in the field across our house would be an easy, cheap start.

How do I do it????????????????????

Does your son enjoy this treat? If so, then YABU.

Give him the ball?

Why fo you fetl the need to control what they do together?

Report
Ladymuck · 28/08/2011 10:40

Don't.

Just don't interfere in his relationship with his son. Especially if he is doing something which they are both happy with.

Smile

Point taken. IABU!

(Does the fact that I am miserable, 10 weeks pregnant and anxious about EVERYTHING excuse the fact that IABU??)

Relax - once every few weeks won't do him a lot of harm. :)

Can you not just ask him to take a ball and have a kickaround on the other sundays? Or would that lead to a row?

Maybe they like being able to sit and talk rather than running round doing things?

Are you worried about the implications of the unhealthy food being associated with a treat with his dad?

If its once every three weeks, I wouldnt be worried.

Awwwww dont, it might be worth telling DH it bothers you and why, because if you are like me, if I dont it comes out in another way (I get snappy !!)

But its not worth upsetting yourself over, just enjoy the peace and quiet and have a nice cuppa. Check its okay when you are pregnant but camomile tea is really soothing.

Thanks, Rhonda. I think I should rather leave it completely today because I had such a bad night's sleep which really makes me feel crap nowadays. DH has already asked me what is wrong and he only got out of bed 45 minutes ago so best I just keep the peace!

Thanks, everyone! Smile I will stop being so sanctimonious - for the time being.

Burger King it may be but they are out with each other- you can relax! :)

Is it cause it's bk? Is it cause you want a bk? Is it cause they never do anything else at all? Is it cause your ds has complained? Is it cause your ds eats to much junk already?

Defrocked- that's harsh

I really want a bk now Sad and I get one much less often then your ds.

Grin Defrocked: a big combo - not of the BK variety but of the control + emotional!

Lovebeingathome: DS loves going there, I don't particularly like it so DH and DS go together. We went out for supper last night, so there is not real need to go out again for lunch today - I worry about money all the time and more so now that I am probably going on maternity leave and I am self employed. Also DS could benefit more from a kick around with a ball because he plays lots of pc games because I let him (bad mother).

So I suppose there is a whole lot more to this than me being in a mood because DH is taking DS to BK. Not a particulary interesting AIBU and not a particularly feisty one. I usually roll over and concede defeat on these boards, anyway.

They do a few other things together but they are usually sedentary activities. They are playing the Wii at the moment but I suppose at least they are doing something together.

The minute they walk out the door to do the BK thing, I will be chucking myself back into bed!

Pranma, that is certainly something I will bear in mind when the two make their own decision again to do something... Sad
