to object to hearing my neighbour's most ahem 'magical moments' and howling?

It's every few days and usually while I'm eating my tea. DS and I were having sausages the other night and it put me right off

Also every week or two we hear howling - I mean real go for it sobbing like the end-of-the-world-is nigh-type bawling. Do feel sorry for whatever is the cause, but still wish the volume could be lowered.

Should I try to broach the subject with my neighbour? Can't imagine what I'd say though.

I'd be so tempted to hotfoot it round there during the howling and bag on the door as a "concerned" neighbour shouting "is anyone hurt? Do you need an ambulance?".

Pop round the following day and ask him/her what they were watching on tv at x o'clock the night before

They are ridiculously loud - bloody young newly shagged shacked up. My walls are solid as rock.

We used to live in a flat where we could hear everything from downstairs - you'd be sat there watching tv and having to put it louder and louder so the children didn't start asking what the noise was.

We once heard her and then spotted her boyfriend arriving, we never quite worked up the courage to ask if someone had had to leave by the back door or if she was just that noisy by herself

Wait until they finish then applaud. Get a couple of mates around so that you make enough noise.

i used to live in a flat where you could hear the couple downstairs and it was the same pattern every time he was very loud. i often used to walk to the station with the woman and one friday she told me she was going to see her parents. next evening heard them at it but the pattern was different and we laughed as it went on and on. didn't think much else of it until i saw her on monday and she told me what a lovely weekend away she had. I never did like her boyfriend he was a little creepy

i often hear my neighbours here, they are young and very in love and very noisy

Would it be too crass to just bang on the wall our side?

Might bring it to the attention of our residents committee. I think it's the Methodist minister who's in charge atm, she's a fearsome type. That'll learn 'em!

I have the same issue on occasion. My walls are solid rock too but my negihbour and his GF of the week are ridiculously loud.

I never fail to thump the wall and then put my tv or music on really loud in to the early hours!

Our lovely older neighbours told us (numerous times, and always with relish and a ) that they could hear our houses previous occupants at it like rabbits in the bathroom

We took their advice and kept a lid on it.

I skimread misread the OP and thought they were howling in sexual pleasure, but crying is a bit different.

How horrible for whoever it is, and not nice to listen to knowing someone's that upset.
