To think that water guns in crowded pools should be banned?

Just come back from a lovely holiday in Ibiza. High season so crowded as to be expected which in the hotel we stayed in was not a major problem as they had two large swimming pools. However what spoilt it for me were the older kids launching these things no matter who was caught in the crossfire. DS just getting his confidence with armbands only to have jets of water sprayed in his face which he (and I) hated. I think these things are fine for paddling pools or when there are not many people around but these kids seem to be running riot with them with no parental supervision. I expect splashing and the like but some of these guns are quite forceful (nearly lost a contact lens at one point) and I can see there are plenty of other adults getting annoyed too.

Would never want to spoil their fun but I think it all boils down to respecting others which sadly seems to be lacking nowadays...

No I don't think they should be banned because they're a lot of fun.

But I do think parents should make sure their kids are sensible with them and not deliberately squirting them at strangers.

Did anyone ask these children if they could be careful of others though? Or did you all just assume they would realise they were pissing you off? Before now I have asked kids to be careful and 9 times out of 10 they have moved to another quieter area of the pool, or just made sure they only get each other.

ugh not just them tho,we went to the aquadome in basingstoke and they have jets that get you as you swin round and its so hard it hurts as it hits you :(

You cant ban things just because you dont like being splashed by them and in a few years time you will be the mother of a child playing with a supersoaker.

You can however ask them to be a bit more careful where they shot them and 9 times out of 10 they will comply. Did you ask them? or just glare and moan about them.

I have just come back from Turkey and some man got ratty with my son as he was playing ball in the pool with his friend and he said his book was getting splashed. This was a complex with 9 different pools at least half of them quite pools and plenty of gardens and he choose to sit by the fun pool and then expected children not to be playing in it.

Sometimes I wonder if I want children in a pool at all, with or without water guns! :o
