Me and DCs (5yo and 3yo) bought DH a couple of birthday presents and the DCs did a card for DH's birthday. They were very excited about giving it to him.
DH works long hours and usually comes home when the kids are in bed and goes to work before they get up. Anyway on the day of his birthday, he had a meeting which he had to travel to so would not see the kids that day. The evening before, unusually, he was home and spent the evening with us. He refused to open or look at his presents/card on the grounds that it was not his birthday. I think he was being mean - we rarely are all home on an evening due to his working hours and he was not going to be here on his birthday, which was the next day. The day after his birthday is the day that he wants to open his presents because his birthday will have been. However, he will be leaving the house before the kids get up! Goodness knows when he will be returning.
So AIBU to think that he should have opened the stuff whilst the kids were there on the eve of his birthday? My honest opinion is that he was like a spoilt child not opening the stuff when the kids were excited and he was not going to be here on his birthday. Am I wrong?
