They are idiots
I lived in Edmonton until I was 20 and now live up the A10, there was rumours all night that the riots had hit Waltham Cross, but neither DH nor I had heard police cars which would have passed us on the way.
I have had to tell my teenagers that they can't go out today. I am not normally that cautious a parent but something about this worries me.

Oh, how scary for you.

How long is your DH going to be gone? Can he get back early?

.. And an excuse for hooliganism. There are plenty of intelligent ways to voice dis-satisfaction and as for deliberately attempting to injure police officers who are just trying to do their job - shocking. I'm willing to bet most of the thugs would be the first to moan to the police if a crime happened to them. You have my best wishes OP - I lived in Brixton in 2001 when a riot took place and it is shocking to see the mentality of some of our society.

I am getting fed up with so many threads on the same subject but for you OP I am more than happy to make an exception. I am so very sorry it must have been terrifying what a complete waste, communities burned, business lost, homes lost and all for nothing.

I really do feel for you and your children. I hope peace is restored tonight.

I think that is a very good idea indeed. Even if it peaceful tonight your children will probably be very worried. I truly wish you all the very best.

Poor you, would you be worried tho if you left your home?
I spat my tea out this morning when one of the reporters described them as demonstrators. Most of them are just thieves simple as.

The looters and rioters are fucking idiots in my opinion, I don't think we get a bad deal in this country AT ALL and am incredibly grateful for the police prescence!

DH and I are considered to be living in 'poverty' by government standards and we are fine! DH left his job selling insurance to go to uni and I'm a SAHM as our youngest is 4 months old. We get tax credits, housing benefit and free healthcare are incredibly grateful. Can I just add we have both worked since we were 16 and once DH finishes his degree he will hopefully get a much better paid job.

They should try living somewhere with no healthcare, education, benefit system with a horribly corrupt police system.

I don't think anyone had their house broken into here but I wouldn't be at all surpised.

I am so sad about Brixton I lived on the Clapham Brixton borders until 2010
worked there also and know the efforts the community has made since the
riots of the 80s, I loved living there such a vibrant community.

But its nothing to do with protesting about a man being shot its about looting and stealing, looks like Currys and Halfords got done last night and these shops are not even IN the high street you need to take a bus or walk
to get to them - so they are being targeted as they sell goods thieves want to steal.

All the work the black community has out into the area shot to hell so some scroat can bag a new bike or a new PC.
