Really bad luck that is.

Saturday - broke down 30 miles from home, waited 4 hours to be towed home, in the heat with a toddler!

Monday - found out my car would cost £400 to fix.

Tuesday - me and dp realised we can't afford to go on holiday. Now pushy aunt is making us give our holiday away for free Angry

Wednesday - all ok.

Thursday - took 3 hours to make a 30 minute trip to pick said car up from the garage.

Today - out in car running some chores and a taxi driver drives into the back of me with dd in the car

My luck is shite.

ugh - that IS a rubbish week. Surely it can only get better?!

What's the story with the aunt?

Report
hellospoon · 05/08/2011 15:08

The thing is I'm unsure if the car is the bad luck. I think it is me. Every week something goes wrong!

the aunt she is my in-law. The woman is becoming more and more unbearable as time goes on she invites herself for dinner and tells me what I have to cook + have to make sure I buy what she wants or else she will slate me to the whole of dp's family (they already hate me)

She rings my dp and tells him when we have to go round there for dinner, I'm allergic to egg and she once served egg on a piece of gammon to me, she told everyone that I said I couldn't have it as I would have a very bad reaction to it, she told everyone I refused her food and was rude to her.

Now the holiday- it is only a cheap sun holiday a week away. She saved up the vouchers, booked where we were going then told us afterwards we paid £80 ourselves for the entertainment passes and the electricity and the main holiday, now we can't afford to go due to the car and various other expenses so to be polite we told her we couldn't go and does she know anyone who would want to buy it from us.

She then phoned to say that she had asked her sons step daughter and that they want to go in our place and for us to change the names over, when dp told her how much they would need to give us she went mad at him saying how dare we try to charge a family member for a holiday! And how as we can't go we should just give it to them! Urmm no! We can't go because we are skint and want the money to pay a bill!

Not this particular week but not long ago :

Monday: wedding anniversary - lovely.
Tuesday : sewer burst and there was water and other stuff flooding our living room and kitchen.
Wednesday : car accident outside our house and a car was shunted through our front wall in our living room!
Thursday : dog throws up on living carpet (is ok though as has previously been flooded and is going to be replaced anyway!).
Friday : husband's car stolen.

could have been worse I suppose!! Smile

I can.

DD passed all of her S grades exceptionally well considering she missed 3 months of school last year.

DH, DD and DS are all off on a weekend away, leaving me here in peace and lovely quiet till Sunday.

Oh, it's not really one of those threads, is it? Sorry all Blush

DS (DC2) is 11wk and the week he was born went a bit like this...

Monday: After being admitted to Delivery suite, at the hospital's insistance, at 09:30 (waters had been broken for 30hrs at this point) and having contractions for over 10hrs, it was a further 12, yes TWELVE hours before I was examined and told by the obstretrician that they would put me on the drip to speed things up - the following morning! I spent over 36hrs having contractions 5mins apart and less Angry

Tuesday: My beautiful DS was born at 10:36, but I was booted out of the Delivery Suite when I was still knickerless and covered in blood - it was less than 30mins after his birth Angry. Finally got discharged at 23:00 as they needed to do 2 hourly obs, for 12hrs, on us both for infection risk - oddly enough they only did 2 lots of observations and that was only because WE kept reminding them!

Wednesday: Spent the day loving being a family of 4...

Thursday: My knee ligaments went, meaning I was on crutches. On the newborn check the midwife detected a heart murmur so we were send to the Paed ward to have it checked over (thankfully all was OK). Then, in the evening DD's neck went really stiff and she was complaining of headaches and an aversion to light. So we rushed her to out OOH GP who sent her to hospital for tests - thankfully she had mumps and not anything more sisinser, but we were there for 8hrs whilst they poked and prodded her.

Friday: Tried to recover and sleep, having spent most of the week in one hospital ward or another!

Saturday: Someone crashed into our parked car and buggered off, leaving a dented rear passenger door and rear panel Angry

Sunday: Amazingly - nothing major happened!

Oh dear. Life can be shit can't it?

My week,

Tues, staff did not turn up so couldn't open cafe.
Wed. bailiff came and turned off electricity supply (despite being shown bill payments...hate British Gas!)

So closed a week earlier than planned for summer, no money. DS here.

Best friend's DF had had leg amputated, her husband diagnosed with bladder cancer. (okay, not my problem, but no money so can't rush to her side)

Landlord threatening to evict me (with no legal grounds) as two weeks late with rent.

Yum!

hellospoon · 05/08/2011 18:19

katie as you clearly could see its not really a happy thread..

Dr i have been there with the bill payments, we have southern electric do the same to us even though we had paid the bills, then they fitted a meter without our permission.. the house we lived in was god awful and we ended up paying £80 per week in gas on the meter Sad

Sorry about your best friend, are you able to keep in phone contact with her?

Your landlord cannot evict you for being 2 weeks late (we have been there to this year) you have alot of rights

Oh hello feel your pain re car.

Mine failed MOT last week and cost £330 to fix and MOT cost and also needed taxing.

Someone driving into the back of me would be a godsend (obv not badly) as the car has no value so the smallest bump to my tin can on wheels ford KA would write it off. A nice deposit on a another banger. Wink

Where is the holiday and how many people for? Perhaps someone here would buy it from you? It's in your name only you can change the booking. and I would buy a cheap deal!

Mine cost £1200 3 years ago. Costs me about £300 a year to keep it healthy and I thought that was bad enough. Sad

  1. Accused of child abuse by GP, when I go to different gps repeatdly begging for help, with ds2 who barely sleeps. and thus my diabetes has gone mad. I admit to shouting at ds1, and having smacked him once, years ago.
  2. Turns out that ds1 actaully is autistic and has aspergers. school try to sabotage diagnosis, and have been no help since.
  3. work invite me to disciplinary, and then ask me to leave immediately, with a compromise agreement. even though I have good appraisals , having worked there for 6 years, apparently I am not 'up to the job'.
  4. Dh gets made redundant twice.
  5. I have my driving licence taken away over a 'mistake' and am unable to drive for 2.5 months.
  6. I feel iller and iller diabetically and am struggling to cope with anything.

We needa weekly and an annual competitin, so that we can make comparisons as to whose is the best Wink
