Why is it, when my inlaws come and are in my kitchen they insist on seating on the spindley legged ikea kids chairs even though there is an adult sized chair and a stool?! My fil went to seat his 16 stone frame on it, and when i said oh please sit on the adult chair, they are just for kids, my mil sat on it, ffs!

If they break it you can laugh uncontrollably tell them you told them so.

My FIL has done this in the past too... I'm not sure why. But amusingly he sat there so long he couldn't get up afterwards. DH has to practically lift him up.

I have a lovely antique highchair that came from my grandma, i regularly have to ask adults not to perch on it, I feel your pain.

My fil has a history of breaking things. He offered to replace the sealant round the bath (very kind of him) but got hot and bothered and tried to open the window which was locked, so he wrenched it so hard he broke the handle! FFS And then didn't even mention it!! So we still have a window which has to be locked as the handle is broken, and the sealant was crap too!
