It would be berserk- and really rude and inconsiderate- had it been tea to share with others, but, as it was an individual pot, a little offbeat but not berserk.

I would hate it if sharing the pot (hate sugary tea). Maybe with lumps a whole lump is too much so she thought she'd 'dilute' by putting it in the pot?

bit strange but maybe she has OCD about having the exact same amount of sugar for all tea she pours from a particular pot? I can sort of understand it in a way

my brother used to make tea by putting the milk and water together in the kettle and boiling them up together - now THAT's weird
