He's not acting more slowly than the Americans, he's matching the reduction in the 'surge' forces. We've got a huge responsibility to leave the place in better shape than we found it & not to waste all those young lives lost by plunging it straight back into a Taliban-controlled mediaeval bloodbath.

It's outrageous. Cannon fodder for political advancement. No obvious progress in the region. Spending a fortune on a war that will not halt or hold back terrorism, many extremists are homegrown, albeit few receive training in Afganistan, but also in Pakistan.
The 'our boys' mentality REALLY pisses me off. Our boys, yes, BOYS being sent like lambs to the slaughter, ill equipped. All the political posturing about how David Cameron is so proud of the forces is such bullshit. I didn't wear a poppy this year as their promotional material featured images of Afganistan combat.

[Angry] but think the forces wives will flame me.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the increased recruitment of child soldiers in Afghanistan.

Oh well. I suppose we should just leave them to get on with it. Not like we started it or anything.
