"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the living creatures He has scattered through them." (42.29)

as muslims believe the koran is the word of god then they all must belive in aliens

As muslims belive the koran to be the word of god this is a valid question

Why would it be a troll?

Oh FFS, Juan

It also says in the Bible, that the rivers rose up and clapped their hands. So should we be worried next time we go for a walk in the countryside?

What exactly is your point? If not trolling, then fuckwittage. I'm happy to go with fuckwittage.

For the record, it claims in the Bible that, among other things, these are "Sins"

Wearing clothes made from more than one animal
Planting more than one crop
Periods
The rape of a woman (unless you intend to marry, then it's all ok!)
Having a wet dream
Getting your period
Getting a tattoo
Astrology
Fear of people or events
Wearing gold
Debt

So are we really supposed to take everything literally?! And for another matter, does that mean that ALL Christians have to follow ALL of these rules at any one time?! Because if they are, then God help all of the female Christian students out there who don't make their own clothes...

Pointless, sweeping trollery designed to instigate a bunfight.

Believing in the possible existence of aliens is more sensible than believing much of the rest of the content of holy books.

So, why not.

I,m not muslim but i believe that there is other life out there somewhere aftersall if we can live on this lump of rock surely somewhere in the billions of miles of space there must be another lump of rock with some sort of life force living on it.

Shall i call for Scotty to beem me up now?

IME all mulims do not believe in aliens, certainly not in the way all Muslims believe in a monotheistic God

Wrt to qu'ranic quote, my understanding is that scholars have not catergorically ruled out the possibility of alien being somewhere else but it is also interpreted in other ways (angels etc)

Taking verses out of context pretty much guarantees you're not going to understand what is being said and make it sound like anything, like taking a line out of a speech makes an interesting soundbite but not really what's going on.

and, MummyTigger, where did you get that list, because most of those are wrong and/or don't understand between a sin and something making someone unclean (being around a dead person makes one unclean, but going to funerals isn't a sin - in fact caring for a dead body is a considered a wonderful duty. Periods make one unclean because of the loss of potential life as is ejaculating for men until the next day. Being religiously clean isn't required, needed, or even desireable in many situations such as priests purposefully becoming unclean to help clean others. It's not a sin though unless one does something that one has to be clean for - which is very few things).

Are you all scared of talking about islam?

Tigger I am not talking about the Bible so why deflect the post

The Bible is not the word of God

The Koran is from God and Muhammad is a Messenger of God.
So the original quote must be the word of God

Here is my question...

Why should any of us give a rats ass if Muslims believe in aliens or not?

And in the highly unlikely case that there is a reason, can we move straight to the obvious answer of 'some of them do, some don't, like the rest of us'?

Found a list online by Googling, and have also got a few friends who frequently use those examples as light fun against their own religion, because no-one can follow the "word of God" or The Bible, or anything like that 100%, because half of it contradicts the other half. It's a bit mental! But I'm not a Christian at all, haven't read The Bible, so I'm admittedly relying on other sources.

And I'm not deflecting at all JuanShite. I'm just wondering why, since you're allowed to make wild and sweeping generalisations, why can't we all?

I can just as easily turn around and say anyone with the nickname JuanShite on a board is trying to start a bunfight, and any debate that sparks from that was a total accident thanks to the opinions of the people joining in, and has nothing to do with the original post.

trip trap JS
Islam is an abrahamic religion, ditto judaism & christianity. We believe that we are all children of the book (OT, Judaism. OT/NT, Christianity. OT/NT/Koran Islam.)
Do jog on now.

ooh & mummyt

it's wrong to kick a pig's bladder (so no football)

You are so right - anything taken out of context is ridiculous. The Leviticus bits about food & so dietary requirements are EXTREMELY relevant to the middle east 2000 years ago. Fridges & food hygiene make them obsolete now but ....
