I'm not judging, just curious.

I can't think why a primary school child would need a phone?! I guess if they go away on a trip or something, but why for everyday use?

Me too joogle! My dd1 is 7 and some of her mates have iPhones and are on Facebook which I find bloody ridiculous. I hate it when I get a friend request from a child or when a kid asks me for my mobile number so they can text my dd!! Errrr no you totally cannot! It breeds text and cyber bullying

My 11 year old niece, in the US, who is just about to leave primary, has one because she takes herself from school to ballet on the bus. She rings her mom when she leaves school and rings her again when she gets to ballet class.

My 10 yr old is in yr6 and has one. We got her one on her first day in yr5 when her new school, which is 15 miles away, put her on the wrong bus to come home on. Luckily the bus stopped at her older sister's school and she was noticed on the wrong bus by a friend.
By the time our DD had got home I had been to Tesco's and bought her a pay as you go mobile.
