To expect BA to have bigger cots for babies?

I travelled long haul with 11mo DS over the hols and was disappointed with the tiny cot supplied - he's an average sized bub, but barely fit! Every time he wanted to turn over he cried! I was also really worried he would jump out.

Won't fly long haul with BA again... which airline has the best cots?

Well I would say YABU as I've been told by BA before flying the the sky cots are only suitable up to 6months old because they are small. But YANBU if they didn't tell you this.

As are the sky cots on all other companies.

I would have booked a seat with child seat for an 11month old.

why didn't you use the britax seat that they provide? it is like a car seat attached to the table in the bulkhead seats? they are suitable for up to 2 years old, as long as the child is average sized, so a 11 month old would be fine. Also had the added bonus of an additional table to put stuff on and the space of the bulkhead seats.

They didn't tell me that! SIX months! They ran out of the car seat ones... there was a woman next to us with a 15mo also in a cot... her legs were sticking out the end.

I don't understand why they can't make the cot bigger - the table it sits on is a few inches longer than the cot.

Our small 4month old fit perfectly last christmas, I can't imagine a bigger baby! We are hoping to get the car seat type that fits on the table next time.

As far as I understand all the airlines only have cots for up to 6 months. I'm told it's only BA that do the car seat ones after that so actually BA are doing quite well! (Could be wrong though...)

Also you can take your car seat on board too.

I would say YABU but only because I've had friends on similar long hauls (different airlines) who haven't even been able to get a bassinet seat. Nothing is guaranteed unless you book a seat.

Pity you can't do what my mother used to do when I was young... make the kids sleep on the floor and stretch out in our seats! I still remember the feeling of the seat tracks in my back!

Oh and I'd never fly ryanair... rather fly airindia.

or. fly business class and have baby asleep across you, as we did on way back from usa after they messed our flights so upgraded us! huge comfy pillow across me, baby on top, chair stretched out...lovely!

US airlines offer a basinnett only and only for babies under 6 months, they won't even offer for older babies, you will just have to have baby on your lap.
