AIBU?

To find it exasperating when my DH always involves our DC's in our arguments ?

Take last night for example.

First day of our Christmas hols, and children and I went into town (braving the cold) to buy little pressies for everyone in the family (including his side) in Poundland etc.

DH had big pre-Christmas tidy up at weekend, for which was very grateful as he's better at tidying than me ( I seem to spend all my time with the kids )

Anyway, he'd asked me to pick up a new washing up bowl for his new organising the washing up plan. I thought the deal was OK. if I see one. While in town we didn't come across said washing up bowl - bulky to carry with everything else to. Smile
Also asked me to do more washing and drying ( which I did) and empty the kitchen bin (which I hadn't got round to, bit did later in evening when he asked again.)

Anyway, it was the last straw when he calls DS out of TV room to get involved in the washing bowl dispute,
Saying "DS, what did I ask Mummy to do today ?"
He's been doing this for ages, and I don't usually argue back in front of children.
But last night I did rather go for it !
He tried not to listen, and turned the volume right up on the TV, to do everything he could to win argument, or for me to lose.

He might win the battle occasionally, but he's losing the war !

Also "right has might !"

WDYAT (What do you all think ?)

Does your DH do this too ?

I think it is an absolutely despicable trait that he is teaching his children to gang up on their own mother.

Why can't he do some of the tasks you mention himself?

Why are you with him?

He shouldn't involve your kids, but I'd be pissed off I was doiung all the tidying an DH didnt even get a me a washing up bowl. So you are both a BU

We do have one washing up bowl already. This was just an extra one to put plates in prior to washing them.

It just got busy in town with the children and shopping, and I forgot about it.

If it was really that important to him I feel he could have stressed it more before he left for work, whereas mainly he was on about getting more laundry done. Which I did make some progress with.

Thanks for feedback, it's good to get some MN perspective !

One reason I'm with him is because of the darling DC's. Other reasons too.
He's not all bad.
But this drives me nuts !

Doesn't it drive anyone else nuts too ?

Thanks to notasize for the "absolutely despicable trait" and "gang up on their own mother" comments.

Having vented my frustration I'm hopeful that peace of a kind will descend in time for Christmas. Xmas Smile

Its horrid and teaches your children that its ok to disrespect you - which will be a nightmare when they are teens.
