Currently hosting 8 10 year olds for a two-night sleepover. They came around late last night. So far they have eaten:

Breakfast
16 eggs (scrambled)
16 sausages
tomatoes
mushrooms (surprising?)
loaf of bread
Three bottles of orange joice
Water
No leftovers

Lunch
Roast chicken (enormous)
Mini sausages
Roast and mashed
Stuffing
Peas and carrots
Gravy
Three bottles of apple juice
Water
A sponge cake and custard
No leftovers

Dinner
The most enormous quantity of pasta (cooked in the stockpot)
Bolognaise sauce (two pans' worth)
3 bottles of apple juice
Water
Apple crumble and custard
No leftovers

Supper
4x pizza
Chicken nibbles
Water
No leftovers

They might develop the munchies later on, but seriously, is this normal?

A 2 night sleepover.

Oh, Lord, please tell me that this wont catch on as a trend. One night is bad enough.

It's not actually that much food for 10 year old boys. they have the same calorific requirments as grown women, and if active, even higher.

So each child ate 2 eggs, 2 sausage, mushrroms, tomatoes and two toast for breakfast

A roast dinner with a couple of glasses of juice, sponge and custard

Spag bol with couple of glasses of juice, Apple crumble and custard

1/2 a pizza, some chicken bits.

It's quite a lot of food for one day, but then, 8 boys will eat competitively - they are unlikely to be able to keep this up.

They're nice boys but I admit I have had enough of them now

But don't you think that quanitity of food is just amazing?

Seriously?

Well, look at what gets eaten when a bunch of adults get together - you never ordered a monumental amount of Chinese food from the takeaway?!?!

The brekkie, for example, is only 2 saus and 2 eggs each with portions of the other bits. Not EVEN any bacon, fgs!! Xmas Wink

Relax, it's only 2 days - think of all the payback when they all go home and tell their parents of the EPIC TIME they've had over at Quattrocentro's house. You'll be a legend!!!

Wow YABU to even contemplate hosting 8 ten year olds for more than a five minute period Grin.

Break it down, per boy, and it's not that much, bearing in mind they are on the brink of puberty and probably burning off a lot of calories growing and running around etc.

The incredibly nice mother of my friend had a 10 day sleepover at her house when we were 16! We were making a film in the garden and she let various people stay over night everyday for the whole time as well as take over her entire house and garden and magically vanish all the food in her fridge and cupboards.

Now I am a mum I think she was some kind of saint.

(we did buy her chocolates and flowers and a little award as a thank you)

It is impressively loads of food.

God, I must be a such a glutton but I don't think it's that much food tbh. I DO, however, think you must be barking to have a 2-night sleepover...

I am a grown woman. My food intake today has comprised of:

Breakfast
A gallon of coffee

Lunch
Tomato soup

Dinner
A spoonful of spag bol sneaked from the children
2 chicken skewers
An undisclosed quantity of white wine

If they have the same calorific requirements as I do, i am condemning them to childhood obesity....

Actually I looked at that (being the proud mother of a 9 year old - well tomorrow- myself) and I thought thats not a huge amount of food for 8 10 year olds..

we are 7 in this family and the chicken thing (apart from the 3 boxes of juice) we regular go through (I only make 1 type of potato though)

when I make eggs for us we cook 14 thats 2 year not a huge amount.

EIGHT 10-year-old boys for 2 days?!

I think you need to add some sanity tablets to your daily intake and leave the world of madness behind!

Wowzer.

Wait until they're 18. Then they'll eat that each.

You're brave. Hats off to you.

I don't think it's an abnormal quantity of food for that many 10 year old boys I just think its an abnormally large number of boys for an exceptionally long sleepover!

Can I send my boys round to yours, Quattro?

That's what my 17 yo eats in a day by himself. It gets worse, believe me.

Do American style pancakes for brekkers tomorrow. Surprisingly effective and very cheap. 1 kg of flour, 6 eggs, litre of milk, should do it. Should have change from £4 for the 10 of the little buggers.

Sorry, lunch, dinner and supper? Porridge for supper tomorrow then. Guarantee not many takers nor expressions of hunger.

Children of that age, especially boys, are feral. If you put food in front of that size group of children, they'll keep eating it until there's nothing left. They will not leave any for you. Cut down the amounts. They won't starve, trust me. They're just eating it because it's there.

My MIL regularly regales me with stories of how much her kids ate, apparently the 2 boys once got through a pack of 24 weetabix between them in one breakfast, would regularly wolf down a double pack of biscuits each with a cup of tea after school and on Sundays would go around to their Grans for full roast lunch then back home for another roast in the evening.

So I fear this is just the tip of the iceberg for you OP!
