To have emailed dd's school about lack of heat in a mobile classroom?

Same as all over, freezing weather conditions. Dd has a lesson in a mobile classroom today where the heater has broken. They were not allowed to put their coats on and the teacher said that anyone that put them on would get a consequence. These consequences are added up towards the end of the school year and depending on how many there are determines whether the pupils are allowed to go on a school trip or not.

Dd prides herself on having no consequences in the 2 years she has been there, so did as she was told.

But the teacher sat with his coat on all through the lesson!

This teacher according to dd also swears at the class quite a bit.

I have emailed the school to complain.

Dd was shivering and shaking when she got to the next lesson in a inside classroom.

I'm a teacher and he's an arse. Email away, hourly if necessary! My class wore coats yesterday. It was cold. The room was cold. I find that they behave so much better when treated reasonably and I would have had to listen to endless whinging otherwise. I told them that if anyone cameinto the room and remarked on the coats not being allowed that it was on me. The only coatless one in the room was me, as I am a one woman up-the-duff blast furnace and need no coat!

The teacher is a nob.

YANBU to complain to the school about lack of heating. Presumably the heater won't be fixed by tomorrow so by flagging this up you will be doing other classes a favour. They might be able to dig out a fan heater or move to another classroom.

Thanks.

Will see if they respond tomorrow. If not, will try and make an appointment to see the head of year.

YANBU- totally unreasonable. What kind of person punishes children for wearing coats then wears his own?

Horribly sexist generalisation coming up Grin..

..typical male teacher on a power trip. I had some fab male teachers but there was a definite subgroup of inadequates who couldn't cut it in the adult world so propped up their sagging egos by lording it over kids.
