the shop assistant sneezed in her hands and straightaway gave me my change in a well known High Street Store today?

Shock

I held my nerve and accepted the coins, hopefully my face did not display my unease.

I was a bit put out that she didn't offer an excuse me.

Obviously I expect too much. Clean hands? Eye contact? Not chewing gum? Naah, you won't be getting any of that with your purchases.

I'd have had to say something like "Didn't realize I got a free cold with my purchase Hmm" and asked for fresh ones from another cashier. Bleurgh, grubby thing.

There was a thread on here recently about someone being disgusted when they saw people lick their fingers to help open the plastic bags in supermarkets, which I thought was a bit too uber-cautious, but my experience today has increased my awareness of over-sharing.

My dentist was fitting a crown, she was wearing gloves, pulled a tissue from her pocket blew her nose and then went to carry on fitting the crown.

She thinks I am a germ freak to have told her to wash her hands.

CTR have you stopped to consider where your change has been before you get it? It's filthy. Held in a hundred greasy hands and rattling around a dozen mens sweaty trouser pockets! A bit of a sneeze is probably the worst of it's problems!

LOL, I bet you would of complained just as much if she kept you waiting 5 mins so she could pop out and wash her hands though!

She should of said, sorry, excuse me so YANB totally U, but like Sparkly said, your change is already covered in crud!

but it's old crud - the assistant was handing over freshly produced crud and germs

(no problem with the licking finger to open bag though)

Your not supposed to lick any more, they should have a damp sponge thing or a rubber tip to help get the bags off.

i've had to take money from a man who actually had the note and £1 coin in between his lips!
That was gross, he had a full beard too.

I'm really not precious about this sort of thing Sparkly - in my old job I was a cash manager and counted tens of thousands of notes and coins on a daily basis (in a company that had banned the sponge devices on sanitary grounds) - so I know full well the state of our currency.

But, as MaM says, this was a FRESH SNEEZE, with no gesture to apology or hygiene at all.

My mum used to work in a supermarket...one day she was on the wine counter...cue local tramp coming in..friendly bloke and never caused any trouble...just needed to be followed around with air freshner as he was a bit rank

Mum serves him and then watches in horror as he removes a £5 note..........from his shoes!!

She had to take it!

A beard, OTT? The horror! ShockGrin

Yeah, money is filthy stuff. Half the £20 notes you get handed will have been up somebody's nose, too. I suppose the sneezing just reminds you of that, when normally you wouldn't think of it, so YANBU to recoil, but you would BU if you expected money to be at all clean.

I got hand, foot and mouth disease years ago which was transmitted via money (according to Dr). It was awful, so painful and occurred over Christmas so was absolutely miserable too. :(

So you didn't say "Bless you"?

Hope she gave you the plague! Wink
