I think there are couple of other threads about this, but YANBU.

Heracles Thu 11-Nov-10 11:49:18

no one else think this is disturbing then?

Probably all those people who have posted in the (at least) two other threads already on this subject..... hmm

It has been removed.

I'm not boycotting them.

Tidey Thu 11-Nov-10 11:55:35

I hope that wasn't to me, I tried to say it politely...

QuintessentialShadows Thu 11-Nov-10 11:56:16

they have backed down here

MiasmARGGG Thu 11-Nov-10 11:56:52

I couldn't finish my christmas shopping if I boycotted amazon!

That's okay then. Glad they've removed it anyway.

Tidey, it was probably to me, pre-emptively. Kerry sensed I was about to reply. grin

Longtalljosie Thu 11-Nov-10 11:59:42

I wrote and told them I would withdraw my custom if they didn't withdraw it, and saying whoever signed off this e-book appearing on their website should be sacked.

I'm now twitching slightly as I'm thinking about how my Christmas shopping will fare without them!

WowOoo Thu 11-Nov-10 12:00:08

Glad to hear they've pulled it.

But it made top 100 bestsellers. Very sad.

Saw this on FB protest page:

Do you really want to protest Amazon's behaviour - then hit them where it hurts>

Go to your local amazon site

go to the topselling books

pick ONE - give it ONE star review but instead of reviewing the book in question state that you're protesting against this paedophile book and their unapologetic idiocy over the whole thing

They will take notice if enough of us do this. Authors, agents, their publishers HATE 1 star reviews as it affects sales PLUS they won't want to be associated with this pedophile book.

Amazon mightn't want to listen to their customers but they will listen to their suppliers.

Give them the headache they deserve

mumeeee Thu 11-Nov-10 19:22:37

They have removed the book now, Glad they've seen sense as I buy a lot of stuff from them.

momentsintime Thu 11-Nov-10 19:27:22

mumeeee - so that's alright then?? After 1000's of people on their site protested but were ignored? only down now cos it's gone viral & on international news. No apology nothing. took the money and ran. immoral.

twinterror Thu 11-Nov-10 21:55:33

so disgusting.

how on earth did they not have the sense to stop it.

terrifying that it was so popular..and is someone looking into the gruesome person who authored this??

mumeeee Thu 11-Nov-10 22:16:30

I can see your point and I do think they should not have put it on there in the first place.
But for whateveer reason they have taken it is down now and I don't think it will make any difference to them if people boycott them. There are also a lot of other companies that are doing immoral stuff,

LynetteScavo Thu 11-Nov-10 22:21:08

OMG - I actually feel sick.

Was it ever on sale on the UK site?

I would sooo have boycotted Amazon over this. I may well still.

Gob smacked!
