Not sure where to post this one, hopefully this is a good place to get some info.

DD has been having solids since Sunday. She had banana, broccoli and then roast carrot & parnsip.

I didn't see any reaction to each of these. However, I now see small bumps on her face, and on her hands and a little bit on her arm. She doesn't seem bothered by these bumps.

She hasn't had anymore solids since then (almost 2 days, we've just flown back from San Francisco). The bumps are still there.

So I have a few questions:

  1. If this was a reaction to the food usually how long would I expect before I see a reaction? Minutes/hours/days?

  1. If this was a food reaction, how long if I stop would I expect this to go away?

  1. Does this sound like a reaction to the food?

TIA

Sounds like normal skin reactions to changing weather to me - sorry but baby skin is not as clear as people assume, they get spots regardless.

If it was a food allergy it would not be the first exposure but the second and would probably be associated with other symptoms (vomiting/upset stomach/breathing problems/sneezing/grumpiness etc.)

Also of those, only bananas are known to be allergens AFAIK.

thanks choc, the weather has been really hot and then got really cold and then got really hot again. and the bumps do seem more pronounced when she is hot.

i'll keep my eye on her, hopefully it'll be gone by the morning.

So it could be heat rash? Blimey you do worry. Is this your first child by chance? I was the same with DD, DS has always been quite blotchy but because he's our neglected second child we just pretend not to notice he isn't perfect

Do you still do the 'standing over the baby in case they stop breathing while asleep' thing?

The second one you are more like: 'oh thank f* he's asleep'
