Always been sensitive to insect bite. Going anywhere with mosquitos is a nightmare for me, full blown blisters etc.

Last few days I'm getting bitten all over. I'm in the north of England. What can it be and how can I treat this.

I am sensitive to mosquito bites, and take allergy tabs (just the el cheapo Galpharm ones) and they seem to help. Witchdoctor helps soothe actual bites but IME the bites aren't so bad if I take the tablets.

I use nelsons pyrethrum spray on the bites;

but I take doses of vitamin B1 when I go anywhere likely to have flies, mossies or midges etc. B1 permeates to every skin cell and puts off biting insects by smell (not noticable to humans).

Witch doctor gel is awesome! Recommend

Thanks, I've also taken the vitamin B1 before going abroad, unfortunately it didn't work when I went to Eygpt as I was bitten badly again.

shame, as B1 works for around 80% of people. just to make sure, did you take a minimum of 100mg every day, 2 weeks before hols and all the time you were there?
(you can get 500mg pills for short notice, but I find 100mg for 2 weeks before has a good success rate

Yes Misi, I did take it correctly. I was horribly biten in Greece a few years ago and someone recommended the B1. I thought it was working as I was bite free every subsequent holiday, then went to Eygpt and had horrendous bites so I was one of the 20% after all.

I've heard that Avon Skin so Soft works as a good repellant but suspect that my friend who swears by it has been going to mosi free areas/times as I obviously had.

I've tried every repellant going. Anti histamines for the before and for the duration but still react.

All the tough guys in Florida use skin so soft when they go out on the everglades 'gator bashing'. It does work, my mum uses it.

Are you being bitten insde the house or outside?

Could it be fleas? I remember when our cat died, we all got flea bites as they had no animal to live on (or something)!

Have you done any gardening recently? Plant allergy? I get an itchy, nettle-looking rash from some plants.

Allergy to something else - washing powder, cream?

Have you tried piriton?

Thanks for your input. Sis who is a nurse has told me that its an allergy. I've had a new bubble bath and that is the problem. Who would have thought it?

At least you know what it is. Hope the rash goes soon.
