When did you stop giving it and what did you replace it with?

DS was 2 in April but still has a bottle of Neocate a day (sometimes 2 ). I would much rather he had that than soya milk (which he drinks already).

I feel slightly guilty as it is costing the NHS so much but want to make sure he is getting enough calcium etc.

I think I stopped at 12 months (bad mummy) and gave Rice Milk or Soya Milk and now give a calcium supplement.

I think now that you have got to over 2, it would be fine to change to a non-formula based thing if you feel he is getting a good diet.

think we stopped at 2...she started outgrowing her allergy but still wouldn't touch milk or anything like it so just drank water

(she was only confirmed non milk allergic at I think 2.5)

We stopped at 2. He has rice or oat milk on cereal but doesn't 'drink' it. We do have vitamin drops for him from the dietitian. I'm quite happy that he gets enough calcium from other sources but admit I was sorry to see such a good source of calories go (ds1 is v. skinny).

I think I'll keep with it at the moment as his diet isn't great. And the doctor doesn't seem to be questioning it.

Thanks.

I kept using the special formula on my three allergic ones until they each started school.

docs were fine about it, and I had enough issues trying to get them to eat enough other foods without fretting over the calcium and other nutrients they would lose if I stopped the milk and tried different soya milks.

I figured that as they were growing fast, and using lots of energy, and their wieghts were still and issue, I would use it until I felt they could manage without, which in my childrens cases was starting school (I think that them seeing other children eating encouraged them eating, plus school gave them better appitites too!)

DS2 however still likes a 'bottle' of soya formula when his belly is bad, so for that reason I still buy in cow&gate infasoy! he does remember is 'old' milk tho (pregomine), and occasionally askes for that too.....he loved his bottle tho.

I stopped C at 3 - I felt he needed the additional fat content - a dairy-free diet is really low-fat and I'd always had to add oils to his food etc - the formula milk was just that extra that my skinny lad needed!
