Since dd1 came off gluten about 2 months ago dd2 hasn't had any either as I have been trying to figure out what causes her upset tumand sore bum.
Today at soft play another child gave dd2 a kit kat when I wasn't looking and she had a bite anyway we have had 2 very explosive nappies this sfternoon, covered her clothes and everything. Would a reaction be that quick and that severe after such a small amount?

Yes, I think so! If I have gluten the reaction kicks in very quickly, certainly within the day. As for the amount, because coeliac disease is an auto-immune thing rather than an intolerance, a crumb would have a similar effect to a large intake of gluten (according to my consultant) because the antibody reaction is set off by even a stray breadcrumb. That is why they ask coeliacs to have seperate toasters, butter etc.
Sorry!

Would coeliacs cause really severve nappy rash? That is the only other problem dd2 has, she has never seemed ill like dd1 but she is a lot younger, she also has always seemed to dislike foods with gluten in.
It is definatly not a problem for me as it is easier if they both have the same diet and probably slightly easier for them if they are not the odd one out IYSWIM.
Nappy has been fine since so i think it must have been the gluten, I wondered at the time if it was just a coincedence.
