DD vomiting - is kiwi fruit the culprit?

Hi there,

The past couple of days my DD has been vomiting, but is seemingly fine in between vomiting spells. My DH and I were thinking that the only times she has been sick are when she's been eating kiwi fruit - she loves it and has been known to eat 3 in one sitting!

Today she seemed much better and asked for a kiwi, but tonight she's been sick twice, and there's evidence of a kiwi fruit coming back up.

Is this a common reaction to kiwi?

Angela

Kiwi fruit is a very common allergen and can cause anaphylaxis so I would stop giving immediately and see gp asap

hope she is ok

She's nearly 2 years old. Just reading on the internet about kiwi and how much of a common allergen it is. She only ever vomits it back up thankfully so I don't think she's going to have a serious reaction. I will stop giving it to her immediately though and see what happens.

Thinking about it now, she also does this with satsumas/clementines - I wonder if there's a link?

okay, a two year old eating two or three kiwi fruit in one go it not so good for the younger tummy.

citrus fruit is highly acidic, and shouldnt be given in high quantities. The oranges are quite high in fibire as well, so small amounts only.

If she didnt vomit, I bet she would need to fill her nappy pretty quickly , and have a rather sore red bottom.

Kiwi and Pineapple are both quite common to be allergic to. My dd is allergic to both and vomits and is itchy usually. I just avoid them.

She used to have problems with citrus fruit in that it always caused an upset stomach, squirty poos, and, if in contact with the skin would cause itchyness.
