Hi can someone help me to answer the above?

DS1 is 5 and has always suffered with ezcema. it's quite mild now, but did break out this summer. He suffers on the back of his legs, his arms, neck and backs of ears.

We went on a hol to india 3 years ago and took ds to see a skin specialist doctor. He gave me aloe vera cream to try (no other bits) and it worked wonders. I was amazed by how clear ds's skin became. then this summer he broke out in ezcema and i used hydrocotisone on the patches.

i spoke to the doctor and told him about the breakout and he sent me a different cream, which i would like to pass through mumsnetters first before i try. below is the list of ingredients, it;s called efaderm (i think it could be epaderm, but the indian version!)

refined subflower oil BP 10%
sodium pyrrolidone carboxylic acid 2.5%
sodium lactate solution 2.0%
sodium chloride IP 0.5
sodium methylparaben IP 0.1%
sodium propylparaben 0.06%

MMm. really don't know, long time ago I saw a thread about somebody trying to find a wonderful eczema cream that was only produced in India, unfortunately I don't remember the name...

parabens are not good - they are banned in some countries - see green people - not sure about other ingredients. my ds1 had eczema in elbow creases and behind knees, we used sk cream (lanolin free version) as recommended in 'what really works for children' by susan clark (health writer for the sunday times) it contains: chamomile infusion, glycerine beeswax, borax and preservative e210.you have to store it in the fridge. also used lots of sea salt and wheatgerm in the bath (after mumsnet recommendations). no soap or shampoo. if interested contact margaret evans 01526 832491. she does have a website - can't find at mo. it improved straight away and healed in about 6 weeks.you could always buy aloe vera though they will contain preservatives or better still buy the plant.
good luck
