When we took milk out of DS diet it took 1 week for his eczema to clear up completely (also took wheat and eggs out of his diet at the same time) but we left it a few more days before reintroducing milk, it only took 2 days for the eczema to come back with a vengeance when we reintroduced milk though

We took out eggs and dairy and it took about 3 months for ds's skin to clear.

we were told 4 days provided you remove any trace. If you're inexperienced you may miss traces of whey, casein and skimmed milk powder so you should allow 2 weeks if you are doing a food challenge before reintroducing it.

I suspect this is one of those things that depends on how fast your digestive system is - and that varies a lot.

You could see changes for the worse or the better in a couple of days but they may not be necessarily related to milk allergy. I would say 2 weeks to be sure.

But bear in mind that it may be that your child need a full elimination diet for changes to be noticed (adding to TAtt's list any thing with the prefix "lact" with exception of lactic acid. Be wary of sausage, hams and chips, most of the times they also contain milk.

And most importantly, keep in mind that it may be that your child is NOT allergic to dairy, so, if when reintroducing, you really don't see much of a change, please leave it.

My 2yr daughter has had cold like symptoms for about a yr..Docs put it down to her teething, being in nursery or just a cold. She suffers from blocked nose, coughs and occasionally being violently sick (4-7 days out of a month) constipation and she has become a fussy eater. She is otherwise a very healthy wee girl. Maybe I'm clutching at straws but could this be a dairy allergy? Anyone else experienced the same thing? Help!!!

If dairy is causing you health probs, by cutting it out completely I'd have thought you would see a noticeable difference within 3 or 4 days? And a huge improvement within two weeks? If it doesn't help, maybe analyse the diet you had in hol and try to copy that. It might not just be a dairy problem.

What do you mean "get out of your system"?

Dairy and other animal products like meat are digested (i.e. cease to exist) in a matter of hours.
