Puffy weeping skin in face-allergy?

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has had anything similar, obvious answer is to go to the doctor but it’s Saturday so that’s not an option and not sure I should be waiting until Monday but at the same time doesn’t seem serious enough for NHS24. Confused

I’ve had Seborrheic Dermatitis for the last month, stopped using my steroid cream on Monday but continued with the other yeast cream-all looking much better.

I decided to use my usual spf moisturiser yesterday for the first time a month, never had any problems with it before. Also drank some red wine last night, first time in a month too. I mention these in case I’ve suddenly developed an allergy.

I went to bed last night and my face felt really hot, was red and bumpy and swollen around my right eye. I woke up this morning and it’s much worse, my whole face is swollen, I look like I’ve done ten rounds and been punched in both eyes and my skin is weeping in places.

If I’m feeling brave I may try to see the pharmacist today but I’m really not fit for being seen in public! My husband reckons it looks like my skin is burnt, Anyone had anything similar?

I do think this sounds like you should contact out of hours. My mum had a swollen face once and it turned out to be some quite serious illness/infection (which I can’t remember the name of but it was like cellulitis). They said if she’d left it any longer to see the docs they would have admitted her to hospital for iv antibiotics. I’d always get facial swelling checked.

Thank you for your reply, I’ve called out of hours and am waiting for them to call me back.

I was worried about wasting their time but they were really nice and there’s something clearly not right with my face! Usually I would give it a few days to see what happens but as it got so much worse overnight and your story of your Mim’s infection I think it’s best to get checked. I’ve had a family member in and out of hospital recently on intravenous antibiotics for cellulitis (not on the face) and that’s no fun for anyone so I don’t want to risk that.
